Here's another new one. It's one of my many freestyle doodles.

No prep, no planning, no pencil outline, I just put my brain out of gear and away I go on the dolio flow;!

Drawn on a 8ft high board at Best Joined Up bank holiday special event in Leeds this weekend after I painted that girl's gummy face above during the day.

Hey Replete - bit confused - is the artist name an anagram of "the leanest alpha" - or do you have to correctly identify the subject matter and use that in the anagram as well?

Leanest Alpha is an anagram of the pieces title and you only need to identify the piece and the artist to win.

The last clue I'll give is that the artist was painting early in the 20th century.

I have to admit to going completely off track with my thinking on this one. ;D

First, I thought that it looked biomechanical, and to me at least, like some of Giger's work. Using the alpha part of the title, I came up with Aleph (precursor of alpha) by Giger. Wrong!

Then, I thought that the 'leanest alpha' was 1 (one), so an anagram of that would be 'neo' or 'eon'. I also thought that the work looked like a Dave McKean piece - some of replete's other recent work also looks like McKean to me, for example:

However, try as I did, I just couldn't make the liink to McKean, though I thought that the Sandman covers he did of the Endless would have a link (to eternity via Aeon). Still all wrong!

Having looked at the correct answer though, it's a fine tribute, and if I had the funds, I would be looking to pick this canvas up (curse adult responsibilities!). Very nice indeed replete.
