Guided Tour of Banksy Graffiti (& others) - Part 2, by mido on Jul 4, 2006 18:37:36 GMT 1, Part one was the Shoreditch area.
Here's the plan for Part 2 - Waterloo / South bank / Victoria Embankment
Sunday 6th August
Meet at Lambeth North Tube station (Bakerloo Line only). This station is pretty quiet, but is also walkable distance from Waterloo as well, which offers more tube interchanges (Jubilee, Waterloo and Northern lines). Iβll work out an EXACT meeting place later on and post it up here. We will be leaving at 2pm sharp.
2pm hopefully lets people from a far to get there and back and lets people get their own lunch before we start (trying to all go somewhere for lunch sounds like a nightmare!). Weβll go around the Waterloo / Lower Marsh area, then all along the South Bank from the Mortar Rats (opposite parliament) to approx London Bridge, then crossing over the river to do the ones on the other side of the river, finishing at Embankment tube station. From Embankment itβs really easy to get to Charing Cross and Waterloo, and most of the rest of London.
Difficult to know how long it will take but Iβd guess weβd all be pretty ready to finish / knackered within about 3 hoursβ¦.. As before, you can obviously leave whenever you want. Weβll be going close to LOTS of tube stations on the route (London Bridge, Monument, Bank, Cannon St, Blackfriars, Embankment, etc).
Then people can do whatever they want after - food, drink or transport.....
Although this is quite a long way, itβs all pretty flat and as it doesnβt involve any non-avoidable steps I would have thought that it could be done by someone using a wheelchair or a buggy.
Any questions, just ask. Martin
P.S. it's free, and you even get some stickers kindly donated by those nice people at POW

Guided Tour of Banksy Graffiti (& others) - Part 2, by mido on Jul 4, 2006 18:48:19 GMT 1, I knew I would forget something.....
you WON'T need a tube / bus / whatever ticket for this... It's just lots of walking
And if you were planning or using a wheelchair / buggy etc, it might be worth mentioning it to me so I can make sure I know how to get around any of the areas with steps (I'm sure they could be avoided ...the whole area is pretty touristy and supposed to be user friendly)

Guided Tour of Banksy Graffiti (& others) - Part 2, by HowAboutNo on Jul 4, 2006 19:21:51 GMT 1, Top work Martin ;D Didn't think it would be so soon. (You really do reek of a man with no job at the mo' but I envy you enormously!)
Have only been there actively once or twice and didn't really find all that many. Just haven't had the time. Will be cool to meet up again. And I somehow think the attendance will up slightly now they know there are freebies just for turning up!!
To anyone toying with the idea of coming it really is a top day out, especially if weather was anything like Sunday. To have my responsible "Daddy" hat on, it may also be worth pointing out that as we will be by the water, it may be even hotter. Yay! (Think I have just recovered from mild case of sunstroke from the tour part1!! )

An excellent day once again, not as many people wise. And sorry that you couldn't make it Silky, would have been nice to see you.
Definitely a Rat lovers heaven, a shame that more of the diverse pieces have gone from the Southbank.
I won't try to remember names, you all know who you are and please post to thank Martin for another job well done!
Ahem....roll on part 3?!?!
Oh Bugger, thats the only one thats worked after waiting 20 mins for it to download. Am cream crackered! Will post rest in the morning!!

Guided Tour of Banksy Graffiti (& others) - Part 2, by mido on Aug 6, 2006 22:01:57 GMT 1, well done you two for the fast photos. I didn't take any so I'll rely on you two to add them - work you slaves ;D

And thanks as always to POW for bunging some stickers my way, which I'm slowly getting rid of via the tours.
thinking about part 3. a short, evening, after work, mini tour of farringdon / barbican area....
watch this space (...well, not all the time obviously...you need to eat, and wee.....)
seb.... is that the south bank skatepark graffiti finished?? any other pics of it?

Guided Tour of Banksy Graffiti (& others) - Part 2, by mido on Aug 6, 2006 22:06:39 GMT 1, P.S. an explanation............
as we walked along the south bank we noticed that some new graffiti was going up in the skate park thingy (south bank regulars will know what I mean, under the thingymajig :-) )
They were 2 Spanish guys - one from Barca and one from Sevilla, accompanied by an English (?) woman who explained a bit about them etc. Sorry, I'm poor with names :-)

[glow=red,2,300]Cool[/glow]post and thanks for getting the completed Barcelona blokes piece. Well worth a visit as it looks like it will get renewed on a regular basis. Next week anyone?
I think I heard that the woman said something about one of the artists being called "D Base" Wasn't really listening to her as she just struck me as dodgy marketing type chrony.
