Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by andrewd on Apr 1, 2011 20:32:33 GMT 1, Brain has been legally represented during his time on Parliament Square and I am sure that they are aware of what is missing and how to retrieve it /claim damages etc . I spoke to him four or five years ago about this canvas, telling him that it must be worth something. He said to me that Banksy had told him that it might have a monetary value but that what he was doing was worth far more. Brian was quite chuffed with that.

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by skitchy on Jun 19, 2011 21:12:25 GMT 1, I met him on a few occasions top bloke, always interesting to chat to.
Will always remember him back in the day standing in parliament square speaker phone in one hand, beer in the other fighting his cause whilst dozens of police watched helplessly and filmed with video cameras.
10 years of 24/7 living and breathing central London car fumes...
RIP

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by Guy Denning on Jun 20, 2011 12:55:55 GMT 1, May he rest in peace. I had a chat with him a long time ago and in my opinion his protest was doing his mental health no good at all. A lovely, committed and gentle man.

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by andrewd on Jun 21, 2011 21:14:54 GMT 1, I met several years ago as the wind was blowing some of his pictures across parliament green. I helped him take them back to his tent. I got a proper mouthful from him for helping! I think he thought the world was against him! Anyway we had a chat and I asked him about the Banksy which had been taken by the police, when I told him it was valuable he said that Banksy had told him that never mind what value people put on art works, that what he ( Brian ) was doing was far more valuable.

I couldn't agree more. But it was still wrong for the Rozzers to nick it.

Banksy • Parliament Square • Brian Haw, by skitchy on Jul 2, 2011 11:09:02 GMT 1,
One evening two guys arrived in Parliament Square and approached Brian Haw "We have been talking about you in the pub and decided we should do some thing to help. I have got a couple of ideas for pictures I would like to put into your peace campaign display!" A few days later they returned with two painting and installed them amongst the Brian Haw demonstration placards facing Parliament. The picture next to this caption being one of the two paintings, with Brian Haw tiding in front. The other one can be viewed in the Artist Gallery on this website. The painter was the elusive English graffiti artist Banksy, being as good as his word.

Any update on Brian Haws CND Canvas? ...just wondering if it has turned up in any auctions/gallerys as of late (or still in police custody)?
