Eine, by lesroy on Oct 7, 2006 14:14:23 GMT 1, Do many of you have any work by Ben Eine?
I keep looking at his stuff and cannot decide whether I really like it or hate it?! Strange thing to come on here and say but I have never seen the prints in the flesh but did see one of his letters in London last week....
Why does he concentrate on just letters? Do any of you have pics of his stuff on your walls?
Cheers

Eine, by foundation on Oct 7, 2006 15:30:50 GMT 1, One of the main fanboy things for eine's work is the sheer skill and work gone into some of his stuff, the circus print had in the region of 30 different colours used ( as a stencil piece, this is virtually unheard of, as it requires 30 hand cut stencils). He seems to concentrate on something as mundane as the alphabet, so that the subject matter itself doesnt detract from the skill needed to produce these prints. As someone mentioned the other day, a graffers first medium of comunication will often be writing, hence the alphabet, once well developed can be used as an artform within its self. Not so taken with monster but early stuff was more arresting, think you can still get the collette alphabet from POW, and worth every penny

the colette show poster is available but has never actually been on the POW site. I got mine when I was at POW and steph mentioned it to me.

They're very lovely letters, but they all scream at me: "I have a degree in graphic design, but absolutely no imagination"

Eine, by longhu6 on Oct 8, 2006 19:04:41 GMT 1, IMO, Eine is one of the most intelligent of the graf artists. With Monster, the idea of repeating a word in a context where it loses its original meaning and becomes pure form is brilliant. Again, IMO.

Eine, by andrewd on Oct 20, 2006 21:19:09 GMT 1, Anyone who is into Eine should get in touch with claire@electriksheep.com. Claire has about 4 Eine canvasses for sale, following the recent exhibition there. Check out the website, sorry no link, only £500 for a canvas. I've bought one, an absolute stunner, and cann't see how you could go wrong, what with Eelus canvasses going for £300 or £400 for a run of ONE HUNDRED!!. These are 1 of 1 or 1 of 5!! Claire will e-mail you better pics of any of the work that you want to see.

yep, I bought the first one and put info up in www.beneine.co.uk
there were actually 8 made (all different, so technically all 1 of 1), but it is still a huge bargain.

I think that threads are occasionally tidied up on these forums because there are a few things I cann't find. Claire at Electrick Sheep tells me that there are people interested in the remaining canvasses So anyone who wants one better get a move on!

Eine, by mido on Oct 21, 2006 22:16:59 GMT 1, glad I'm not totally going mad.
they are great. and respect to Eine for dropping the price, and Electrik Sheep for hosting the exhibition, for being the lone outpost up in geordieland, and letting Eine spray anything that moved (or didn't move - I'd hate to be a cat when Eine's on a roll), and respect to people like Andrew for liking Eine and helping the Eine machine roll on ;D
Photos- um. I have the ones clare sent me - maybe I should check if it's ok to post them. (some have sold and might not be wise to post them up as it might just disappoint people). Maybe I should post the pic of mine to at least give people an idea of what they are like??
