Lady Aiko π―π΅ Aiko Nakagawa β’ New York Street Art, by Ad Hoc Art on Mar 31, 2008 0:06:31 GMT 1, I wanted to make it clear that we here at Ad Hoc Art are very impressed with the incredible artwork produced by the Faile collective. We are fans of what they do as artists and appreciate very much their place in the current art scene.
We are just glad to see that people are realizing that AIKO is rather good as well.

1800garrett will probably change his avatar after reading my post, but he's an Aiko fan and doesn't even know it! His avatar is from Faile's Smoking Silence print (which he owns, as posted in the Faile Forum). The girl featured in the image was created by Aiko and in her current show there is a piece which is sort of a reference to Faile, and in that piece she has re-appropriated the girl to give it a new meaning.
With Aiko's work there are just so many details and textures that aren't visible online. I think with most art, when you see it in person you get a different perspective and appreciation.
I'll try to post more pics later that I took when I saw the show, but let's just say that I think both Faile AND Aiko are both producing great work. I don't see a need to take sides. Boys vs. girls? That's old-school. Like kindergarten. In any case, welcome to the Aiko fan club Garrett.
Photos show 1800garret's print and avatar on top. Below, Aiko has reclaimed her heroine for her own artwork. Two detail shots from a piece in Aiko's new show.

This entire argument is non-sequitur oddkabob. He said Aiko's work post-Faile sucked, and you showed a piece of her's that she did while WITH Faile.

Lady Aiko π―π΅ Aiko Nakagawa β’ New York Street Art, by oddkabob on Mar 31, 2008 3:00:59 GMT 1, francis, i didn't think i would need to spell it out, but I wrote that I think the art produced by both Faile AND Aiko looks great. Aiko with Faile. Faile after Aiko. Aiko solo. All good. Also, the pictures referenced show Aiko's work both with Faile and after Faile, and as I just said, but I'll say it again since you missed the point, I think they BOTH look great.
I'm beginning to wonder why, though, certain forum members are so pro-Faile and anti-Aiko. Being a fan of Faile, I'm more than happy to see the work Aiko is making. I mean really, what do you gain by putting down Aiko's work?

Alright, I tried to help you out, but you are still not seeing it. Not going to saying anything else, except that you need to work on your reading comprehension and logic.
You should also respect others' opinions and see that not everyone will like what you like.

Lady Aiko π―π΅ Aiko Nakagawa β’ New York Street Art, by Ad Hoc Art on Mar 27, 2008 22:47:16 GMT 1, I have had a lot of complaints that the Lady Pink and AIKO artwork are mashed together making it difficult to tell which is Lady Pink and which is AIKO. Now, on the website, there are TWO separate links for each artists. No more confusion. Thanks to everyone here for all the great feedback and advice to help our website work more properly. MUCH appreciate. Keep the good advice coming!
