FAME FESTIVAL blu/kinsey/above/conor harrington..., by Studiocromie on Jun 16, 2008 1:09:12 GMT 1,
FAME (engish) the state or quality of being widely honored and acclaimed, favorable public reputation FAME (italian) hungry. starvation
In order to avoid rhetorical somersaults of the case, Studiocromie is pleased to announce FAME festival for what it is: a bunch of hyper active artists meeting in a small city in southern Italy called Grottaglie.
The city is famous for its ancient ceramics tradition and there's a whole area exclusively dealing with ceramics production.
The name of the event, FAME, refers to the ironic difference of meaning of the word itself between Italian and English. If in Italian FAME means hunger, in English is FAME, understood as honour and success status, things that Italy can only have exactly a great hunger!
LINE UP:
DAVE KINSEY (USA) CONOR HARRINGTON (IRELAND) BLU (ITALY) ETHOS (BRAZIL) JR (FRANCE) EINE (U.K CHLOE EARLY (IRELAND) ABOVE (USA) ERICA IL CANE (ITALY) MANTIS (U.K.) MICROBO (ITALY) BO130 (ITALY) LUCY MCLAUCHLAN (U.K.)
The idea is to host the artists for variable length of time (from 1 to 5 weeks) and to offer them the cooperation of the local artisans for the production of pottery works and limited edition prints.
Furthermore the artists will have at their disposal a several walls to paint around the city, in order to upgrade a few ares which are aesthetically depressed.
At the end of their stay, everything created (prints, ceramic, canvases, drawings...) will showcased in one of the most ancient ceramics shops of the area, in a collective exhibition organized by Studiocromie. (last week of August / third week of September)
make sure to check www.studiocromie.org/fame for the latest news, we'll keep you all updated about releases, shows, events and whatever happen while the artists will destroy the city.

FAME FESTIVAL blu/kinsey/above/conor harrington..., by Heavyconsumer on Jun 16, 2008 1:29:30 GMT 1, Graeme, you get everywhere man! I'm envious as hell! I will be in Europe as it happens, but won't be able to make it down there sadly. Shame, as it would have been a great excuse to see a new place.
I think Lucy and pottery could be a great combination actually. Her smooth line flowing around a voluptuous vase or something, could be a bit special.

FAME FESTIVAL blu/kinsey/above/conor harrington..., by graeme501 on Jun 16, 2008 1:49:37 GMT 1, i can only go if a ryanair or easyjet flight goes somewhere near, i try to go to as many interesting places as i can, if i can afford it, last week it cost £30 return to london to see burning bridges
thats my favourite thing about street/urban art, going to see exhibitions and seeing the work in galleries and on walls, collecting prints is great, but theres nothing better than seeing stuff for urself
