From Scion website:
"David Choe is one of the most diverse and prolific artists working today. He is one of the youngest artists to ever have solo show at the MOCA. He has had his art shown on every surface from canvases to human bodies to third world ,war torn walls, it can be found in every facet of society, from fancy galleries, museums, t-shirts, shoes, movies, billboards, cars, murals, buildings, from New York City to the Congo, Africa to everywhere in between.
David has spoken and lectured at Princeton, DUKE, Dartmouth and other art colleges, he works in every medium, and can paint anything and everything as well as on anything and everything. He has designed and created fine art, murals, movie sets, movie posters, album covers, shoes, t-shirts, toys, calendars, commercials, cars, magazines, books, illustrations for porn and childrenβs story books, comics, animation, curated art shows, art directed books and magazines. As well as self-publishing all his own books which have all won numerous awards and are sold out.
He has traveled, train hopped and hitchhiked all over the world many times over spreading his art."
Cool interview on Fecal Face:
www.fecalface.com/SF/index.php?Itemid=92&id=458&option=com_content&task=view
Randomly came across this post by artist Stella Im Hultberg in her blog. Apparently she is a fan too along with artist Audrey Kawasaki who also posts a comment. Both really good artists in their own right.

choe at Laz, by a4mnt on Feb 23, 2008 18:39:37 GMT 1, Very under-conversated (is that even a word???) on here considering all the drivel about flippers and dolphins and all that malarky that keeps revolving! not sure thats a bad thing though as im sure that its slipped under a few people radars! I love the fact he's not flavour of the month.
He is in my house.
And what does that say about this forums members that there is not much talk about Choe? Hmmm.
Or it could be that after all the hype surrounding previous artists shows, maybe people are letting this one be what it will be.
I can see the canvas of the girl with her hands over her mouth being one of the prints.
And Silky, if you've never seen a Choe that you liked , I'm sure there will be a new Hutch along soon ;)to make up for it for you. ;D

Totally agree to that. This forum is powerful, but not the only reflection of the urban art scene. You can find alot of helpful(mainly UK based) info here, but this is not the centre of the scene.

choe at Laz, by Rude Copper on Feb 24, 2008 10:23:11 GMT 1, i think choe has been caught up in the fallout of last years over enthusiasm for the next big thing & the quick buck, for my money, he's one of the more exciting artist's to emerge from this scene, dont be suprised to turn up at these previews to see red dots everywhere, i think this will be laz's most succesful show in ages. as for the prints, i hope the interest stays the same, the release day carnage gets on my nerves.

One can't help think he's cashing in on the current UK market with 2 shows at once. But I'm sure it will sell like hot cakes.

Somehow I bet this was more Laz's idea to try and up the status of his other venues by also giving them the attention of a big opening. Smart move.
I also like the SAUL one best so far whatson. Some crazy looking stuff.
