Beejoir- Sculpture- Happy days, by dh on Apr 8, 2008 14:38:30 GMT 1, Maybe, maybe not, the total price is just under £200 for the gold and the one on ebay is already over £250 with 3 days to go. I am not saying all the flippers will make a mint, just wait and see.

Erm i guess that Banksy too, depicts causes that are often ignored by the mainstream in his art???
Just why someone would need something to remind/keep them aware of the struggles people less fortunate than ourselves baffles me tbh

Good point, well articulated (better put) other statement was a bit rash imho.

Beejoir- Sculpture- Happy days, by daz205 on Apr 8, 2008 17:10:45 GMT 1, well after saying i hated these on a different thread, i`ve gone and bought one. Yes i like being reminded of the less fortunate in the world when i`m sat at home in the warm with the tv on, drinking good wine and eating good food. It makes me take a step back and appreciate how lucky i am and how unfortunate others are. i did have a u/s lv child in the dining room but it didnt stay on the wall too long as it dominated the room and shoved its message down your throat ( since been replaced with bleks begger, same message little more stylish imo ) i think this will look good when i find the right place for it and i dont think it will dominate in the same way as the print. i believe beejoir like alot of the artist on this scene, is trying to actually raise awareness of issues we may not want to see and hear about in our sugar coated lives and i take my hat off to him for donating so much money to charity ( same goes to banksy and all the other artists that do this ) Sometimes a message is more effective when humour is not used as i for one would not like to have a print poking fun at africans plights for food, water, shelter, and a basic standard of living the same as i`m glad blek did not take the p*ss out of beggers in his print we are the fortunate dont forget or ignore those that arent so lucky

Beejoir- Sculpture- Happy days, by curiousgeorge on Apr 8, 2008 17:15:35 GMT 1, Humour or not, the points remain!! Maybe the reason for the humour is to help people understand his feelings/points better??
I guess some people see what they want to see, maybe it's easier for them that way;)
What i do know is a direct result of this, people less fortunate than ourselves will benefit directly
Saying "dont get why anyone would want these.
a constant reminder of famine in Africa in my living room?? Ill switch on the TV if i want that"
Speaks volumes imo

please spare me the dramatics.
id rather get informed by watching the news or reading newspapers, than looking at this statue - thats all.
i didnt realise some of the money was going to charity. in that case I hope they all sell out.

So I went with the charitable option and have plenty more work coming that will freshen things up."
