Beejoir Spots, by Strange Al on Sept 21, 2007 19:09:56 GMT 1, I saw those too, though not sure whether anyone has previously mentioned that these are now up on the website.
From a "morons" perspective I like the irony of these pieces (priced at ยฃ3.5K+), but definitely not something that's on my shopping list.

Funnily enough, it's the price which actually makes these pieces for me.

Beejoir Spots, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2007 20:26:17 GMT 1, The Immodium image just doesnt work for me. it is not as challenging as his other stuff and that is what i like the most about beejoirs work, it makes you think. i much prefer the steet piece which beejoir has done the"artist brand child". i feel that is a classic, i am really looking forward to beejoirs show at TLSG in Dec/Jan. i know he is working flat out and no doubt he has some classic stuff up his sleave for us.

Beejoir Spots, by Deleted on Sept 21, 2007 20:32:36 GMT 1, i am going to completely contradict what i have just said. i had seen a photo of the immodium originals before and didnt get a feel for them. however i have just checked out TLSG and seen a much better close up of e few of them and i have changed my mind. i actually really like 2 of the 3 i saw. i just think for an editon of 10 they are too expensive and i dont have that kind of cash. however i am sure beejoirs will only get more popular and he has already released imo the best street art print of the year and some of the runners up too.

Beejoir Spots, by Strange Al on Sept 21, 2007 20:49:22 GMT 1, Beej is such an awesome bloke and has created some great work over the last year (LV Child and Turin Scam in particular) and because of this I feel bad being critical. However, I do think that these canvases are weak.
My understanding is that the Immodium pieces are a comment on the whole YBA scene. That may be so, but by selling them at this price point the message is completely undermined for me. What is Beej trying to say?
I do think they work on a "Morons" level. Particularly, given the incredibly high price tag for an editioned canvas, which can be knocked out production-line style. Though I'm not sure that was Beej's intention. If it was, hats off to him - it's incredibly early in his career to play with his fan base in that way.

Beejoir Spots, by corblimeylimey on Sept 21, 2007 20:58:43 GMT 1, Immodium 2 isn't bad for ยฃ3500, it's even framed, bearing in mind it's hand sprayed and considering how much signed LV, the hand stenciled TS and SBFO on real (fake) money sell for on ebay. Having said all that, too much money for me

Beejoir Spots, by RBK on Sept 21, 2007 21:22:35 GMT 1, Just because they haven't sold out in a matter of minutes doesn't mean they aren't priced right.
I agree with CBL - these prices are not suprising given what LV canvases have sold for, and the going rates for HS TS & SBFO Iraqi Dinar version - which we have for sale - PLUG!

For all we know the money may be going to fund that charity - ( www.mercycentre.org ) which ... almost got it's money - if it wasn't for pesky paypal - robbers....
if that was the case - the prices may take on a different perspective...
... i would also have to say/hope i don't see beej signing up with laz .. in the near future - those folks at sos have been fantastic this year.

Beejoir Spots, by organics1 on Sept 21, 2007 22:18:28 GMT 1, I have an "Immodium 1" and was lucky enough to be one of the first to get one so I had a choice, got number 10/10 ;D
Don't forget although its an edition of 10 they are all different. Some have more pastel colours, some have richer colours, Some have one drip and some go up to four drips. I went for Immodium 1 because it's round, as 95% of my art is either square or rectangular.
The framing was done by Gary and it makes the piece stand out even more and it's a great size.
Yes differrent from the rest of his work but very fresh and bright and will look stunning in any contemporary home. As said before Beejoir's LV canvas's are selling for 5K ish so I think this is a really good price. What I really love about B's work is his diversity. We've seen a show this week that everyone's been raving about for so long but where was the progression. I think his show which will be at the end of Jan at TLSG will blow a lot of people away.

I hate to break this to you sausageboner but you and dotdot were separated at birth. You have merely experienced what we like to call in the trade... a negative reality inversion. Oh and by the way, [vader/dark helmet type voice] 'I am you father'. ;D
