Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by seidbereit on Feb 9, 2008 16:31:07 GMT 1, Hmm.... just went to check his site and the front page is new again...
Can't find anything that links to a gallery though... still. Looks like he's turning out some fantastic new stuff if these are previews!

Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by themightyreds on Feb 9, 2008 19:05:06 GMT 1, These new pieces from Paul are really striking, and the Who to Believe from the Ghetto was one of PoW's best quality prints yet (imo of course!)
2008 - year of the Insect?...

Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by jusdeep on Feb 9, 2008 21:40:36 GMT 1, I'm loving these, wasn't that keen who to believe, although as 'themightyreds' says it was printed very well. Of course I had to buy one anyway to justify the amount of time I spent in front of a computer hitting refresh over the run up to Xmas. And was, as always out of luck on the Stop and search print. Will my chance of ever owning a Banksy ever happen without spending a bloody fortune? To be honest Paul's fascination with guns, bears and clowns is waring a little thin, but an excellent piece with great colours never-the-less. He tends to play it a little safe and mimic trends other artists are adopting imo. I'd like to see something a little more way out there, stretching the imagination. He's very capable as a graphic designer, but how will the switch to dedicating his time to being a full-time artist pan out? Only time will tell. Keep up the good work!

Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by slowmo on Feb 10, 2008 1:03:56 GMT 1, I think that Paul is actually leading the way in many respects rather than following. Take who to believe, most people who want to take a dig at America go at it blatantly (Mcdonalds, Bush, Oil etc etc etc). Paul asks why America are how they are, should we really believe they are run by an idiot, are they a simple race as their culture portrays, or are they evil? His juxtoposition of things is really clever and he leaves you to judge for yourself.
A Sickly looking female with peace in her eyes, A semi naked dancer with symbols of religion and money behind her, dances with a rabbit skull for a face, is that because she is dead inside, or because she is viewed as meat? The guy is bloody good.
He is definitely trying lots of things out, but his juxtaposed work is my favourite, I like anything that asks me to look for reasons, rather than spoon feeding me. Gives me options on what I want to see.

Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by silverfox on Feb 10, 2008 15:20:26 GMT 1, There is no doubt he has come on leaps and bounds with his style. His work is hot. Re who to believe I must admit I was a little disappointed that he switched from gold to silver, imo does not work as well. Lacks punch !

Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by jusdeep on Feb 10, 2008 22:53:44 GMT 1, I totally agree with you 'slowmo', I'm not saying his work isn't good or clever in it's approach. I have many of his pieces and love each for it's diversity and message. His work is left open to interpretation, which I love in a piece of art. The fact that art means something different to each and every person can only be a good thing. I am just a little tired of people following the same themes ie: with 'who to believe' - taking a dig at the American Goverment. It is a very long-running and drawn out theme which many artists have adopted. Something closer to home maybe, or is Britain such an uninspirational subject? Or maybe it doesn't translate as well in an international market

Paul Insect stencil on cardboard, by sausageboonwee on Feb 21, 2008 23:15:14 GMT 1, Finally treated myself to a Dead Cow but love the new work. Frankie posted a pic on here a while back of someone holding a bunch of inflatable dolls as opposed to guns. Similar composition but thought the dolls were a bit cheekier. Did anyone ever establish who produced it? Would love to see a pic of it again.

I like the dead cow prints....just checked POW seems like they have all sold out. I thought they had plenty on there a week ago. Which colourway did you get ?
