If a £150k print is advertised £50k under value, it will get a ton of offers. If so, OP goes back to them and says ‘this is what’s happened, what do you want to do?’ to each offer.

If it’s not overvalued, then that won’t happen. Either way, I’m not sure the need to weigh in on something like this, unless you think the OP is in some way a vulnerable adult

It's literally impossible to price these works right now. Like most things they are worth what someone is willing to pay. You would think that £100k was a very reasonable and fair price given the latest auction results and the hype and excitement (not to mention results) they generated. I'm quite suprised to see such a wonderful print still for sale in a climate so apparently thirsty. I guess buyers are being more cautious than recent auctions indicate?

Are there many £100k trades via this forum? Happy to stand corrected but whilst many on here are collectors and enthusiasts there aren't that many with £100k in pockets waiting to be spent.

As for valuation. Suspect we'll get that from Tate Ward in a couple of weeks when one of these comes under the hammer. If that hammer price is south of £90k or so then maybe the asking price was too high.

Additionally, some buyers are attracted to the provenance of a piece being sold at Christie’s / Sotheby’s. Overlooking that would give a misleading impression of the value of a piece when trying to sell it over private messages of an urban art forum.

But since bob says this is worth £150k, I’m sure that’s what it’ll sell for 😊

Yep.

People dropping £100k at an auction house perhaps don't want to trawl these boards searching for evidence of what the COA shouldn't look like and seeking references about sellers from other forum members. That's what the 25% fees gets you via auctions but end of the day it'll be the same print and the same provenance.

if you genuinely think something is easily underpriced by £50k, you’ve identified a pretty handsome investment opportunity that I’m sure you’ll be capitalising on.

By the logic of this forum the following applies: if a £50,00,000 Picasso doesn't sell at a yard sale for £10 it's worthless; the sales section on this forum is not equivalent to Christie's private sales. That print is undervalued and needs a price precedent; the current auction at a third-tier auction house may not provide it and you'll need for one to surface at Christie's or Sotheby's. Prices are climbing and you're dealing with large sums of money, auction a major house may soon be the new norm as opposed to private sale to guarantee access to those with the deepest pockets.

You put it better than I tried to. The number of available buyers on this forum shrinks as prices increase. The value of anything is determined by the amount that any one person will pay. Increasingly, that amount is the preserve of the wealthy via auction houses rather than forum dwellers.

Id imagine most of the auction houses are desperate for these kinds of work. I spoke to a person at Phillips who said they were struggling to get Banksy works.

Agree with Bob, cant really take TateWard as strong enough precedent, wait for one of the big boys.

I thought the TW auction yesterday was a mess, too many 'trinkets', badly curated and by the time they got to the cream both the bidders and auctioneer were fatigued.
