Upcoming Grafter release, by Grafter on May 24, 2008 23:49:00 GMT 1, I'm liking that a lot mate. Any idea on price and size?
Thanks Man. The canvas is 30x20 inches and the paper version is 30x22.5 inches. Not sure on Price as the gallery is handling the sale, but it will not be outragous, I guarantee it.
The original portrait this piece is based on was found online and is of an unknown old guy. I really liked the look of his face as I felt it held real emotion. I titled the piece 'Forgotten, more than most'. It has 2 meanings: Firstly, the subject represents a part of our society, the elderly, that constantly finds the specific provision of services and benefits constantly stripped away. They find themselves forever at the back of the queue for help and are truly 'Forgotten, more than most' others.
Secondly: The lines and wrinkles on the old mans face hint to a life well lived. His experience and knowledge of life is clearly etched onto his face. He peers out at us with a thoughtfull gaze as he slowly draws on his cigarette. The things he has seen and done in his many years has meant that he has, in fact, 'Forgotten, more than most' people will ever learn.

The theory I have about stencil art is that it works best when it is as basic as possible with as much detail as you can get into it. I am not against using colours, I just think my subjects work best in black/white. There maybe multi colour pieces in the future, who knows, but at present I am really happy with the results I am getting experimenting with the 2 base colours.

I speak with the elderly on a daily basis and you're definitely right mate about this. It's easy for the younger generation to just see them as 'old people' but there's a life they've lived and things they've seen that, in most cases, will never be heard. Great piece fella.

Upcoming Grafter release, by Blind Angle on May 25, 2008 0:09:44 GMT 1, Cheers for that Grafter
As a gallery i guess we are a bit weary of promoting too much on the general chatboard, but since the news is here, then here is a part of the original post we posted in the Blind Angle section.
We are extremely happy to let it fly that we will be releasing a limited paper and canvas version of GRAFTER's "Forgotten, More Than Most" within the next two weeks. The news of when these are available will be announced via our mailing list and this forum. To give everybody a fair chance of getting a piece we will not take any pre-orders.
The handspraed canvas edition is an edition of 10. Price £ 220-230 including UK shipping
The paper edition is an edition of 50 all handsprayed on Arches88 deckled edge paper. Price: £90 including UK shipping
Here are a few pictures.
cheers
Ragnar
