Im afraid if you start selling your art you need to be able to take the critsism on the chin, its just someones opinion

I'm happy to take criticism. Just a bit miffed at being called "lazy" when for the past two months I've been knocking my pipe out trying to satisfy the demand for my work.
Jed; Why does everything have to mean something? Is there not a place for an asthecially pleasing image instead of puping out all the tired old hacknyed cliches like say, I don't know, babies playing with guns for example, if you know what I mean

correct!
anyway 'grafter' your name says it all- you have sniffed out an opportunity to make a bit of money and good for you
but accept criticism because i think deep down you know your work offers nothing new or interesting
sure some will like it on a basic level but stencillists like you are everywhere!

Donยดt like the image, just fine. To each his own. But calling the artist lazy without really knowing is just rude.

I've been lying awake at night thinking of ideas for new canvases. Hmmm think i might take your lead dude. I have lots of images that i've messed around with that i think look cool.

Constructive critism is im sure welcomed, i dont feel this is and Grafter also has the right to defend his work. I also think art does'nt have to mean anything, there are so many so called artists rehashing the same tired over done imagery and trying to be wity or put out a message. Im bored of seeing bombs, bush, cartoon carachters, etc, etc. Nothing wrong with just a nice image to look at IMO. Keep up the good work grafter, looks sweet!

Well, the artistยดs work reflects the artist.
But I rest my case I guess.

yes the artist is being conceptually lazy, but i'm sure is flat out making work.
but, honestly, 'my dog ate my banksy' on a bit of cardboard?!
that flyer at SG '06 had a similar theme and that was 2 years ago for fucks sake

gawd, grafter, by Grafter on Jun 11, 2008 11:24:07 GMT 1, The meaning behind my name implies the amount of work that I put into my pieces. That's why I chose it. I don't see myself as a natural artist. I work hard to achieve the results that I get and I 'Graft' on a daily basis to try and put some quality into my stuff.
I can also assure you that money is not my motivation. I have given plenty of work away to people, many on this very forum, simply because they have taken an intrest in my stuff and have taken the time to tell me so.
I also have a job. A rather good job that more than pays my way in this world. I am promoting my art work lately because it is something that excites me.Simple as that.
I hear that you don't particularly like my stuff and I respect your opinion. It's that very point that 'what rocks your boat, might not rock mine' that makes this whole art thing so exciting and vibrant in the first place. I also reserve the right to have an opinion myself and answer any criticism in any such way I fell appropriate.
I don't expect to be seen as someone who adds new dimensions to art or as any kind of ground breaker. I am simply getting my work out there as i see fit and hoping that some others out there like it also.
PEACE
