Paul Insect 1/1 on EBAY, by nex on Dec 20, 2009 0:34:49 GMT 1, ffs it's not about flipping, my sole issue is with someone having two prints pure and simple.
It was one print per household, simple as, surely the banksy forum of all places shouldn't be promoting such practises by allowing those users to be here advertising their prints? What next vermin authenticated street pieces for sale here?

Secondary Market: In an effort to sell art to people who want it, rather than people who want to make a profit on it, Picturesonwalls reserves the right to refund any person who advertises their print for sale prior to them being in receipt of said print. For the avoidance of doubt, we deem the contract between seller & buyer to have been made at the point the print leaves our premises and not the point of payment.
If a print is offered for sale on the Secondary market after receipt, then Picturesonwalls reserve the right to no longer fulfil any orders to that customer.
They don't like it and I don't see why we should either.

Fair enough, 1 print per household. Still, I'm not a flipper and not trying to defend them but the line between a forum member who sells a print because he's skint, a year after having bought it, and a flipper who sells a print an hour after having bought it...IS VERY SLIM.

Paul Insect 1/1 on EBAY, by spirit on Dec 20, 2009 0:53:15 GMT 1, its not about selling (everyone does) or about the amount of time before you sell. Its about Love and money. Those in it purely for the money are acting directly against the interests of those in it for the love. This guy is flogging MULTIPLE Banksy prints IMMEDIATELY after release for PURE PROFIT. Thus either depriving those in it for the love from getting one or making them pay 3 or 4 times as much for it. This is a Forum for fans and collectors of Banksy's art. This behaviour directly conflicts with the interest of forum members here for the right reasons.
Simon - It's clear you think the "exactly how long till its ok to sell" argument is a kind of "aha - see you can't answer that can you!" logic bomb. But its really not about that at all. You are (quite deliberately I think) missing the point.

Paul Insect 1/1 on EBAY, by spirit on Dec 20, 2009 0:59:02 GMT 1, and for those that think there should be no rules about this kind of thing and its a free market etc
How would you feel if the guy at the front of the queue in the tent was allowed to buy all 250 grey NBG's - he got there first after all? - bet you'd be clamouring for some rules to be imposed then...

Hi Spirt that's a bit hypothetical though as as far as i am aware POW only sell one print per person... so in terms of the debate it might be better just to stick to facts rather than making things up to argue about.
So it is not about the "time" ok... fair enough. But it is about "love" v "pure profit"... ok so as long as you don't do it for "pure profit" then there is no case to answer.... many thanks for clearing that one up for me! But removing the time element and making it a case of how much someone loves something versus how much profit they make seems to make the whole thing impossible to police (if you could be bothered to police it anyway of course)
It is debatable how much every gallery represented on this forum is motivated by "pure profit" and how many by love..... this discussion is becoming more and more subjective by the minute.....
and finally who is the vaulted individual you think should be in charge of these difficult descisions on who loves what, and who wants profit?.... Am I right in thinking that you think you are qualified... if that is so, maybe you should start your own forum... then you can ban people until the cows come home.
I am not wilfully trying to misunderstand anything I am just trying to establish exactly what your criteria for your propsed banning of people thats all.

Simon - you seem to want to create lots of grey areas when in this case there really aren't any. It's blatant immediate flipping of MULTIPLE Banksy prints.
Please answer me this - at risk of repeating myself, I have stated that my issue with this members behaviour is that it directly conflicts with the interests of the forum members that would like to buy a Banksy print to stick on the wall. Please tell me where I am wrong about this?
And you'll notice that I haven't actually called for this member (or anyone else) to be banned. Our conversation seems to have started when I replied to Silky acknowledging that although he did not have any control over peoples actions, he does have control over this forum. He said he didn't like this members behaviour. He has in the past banned members whose behavior he didn't like. I was simply implying that he could do so in this instance if he wanted to.

Paul Insect 1/1 on EBAY, by simonf on Dec 20, 2009 2:03:10 GMT 1, Hi Spirit I think you are right... i was kinda talking out of turn, and making a general point about this "flipping" thing that people keep going on about. I am not aware of the individual person in question... or what he has done... I was making a "general" point - in the interests of the discussion.
Maybe I should have read the thread first lol. As i say i was just making a non specific point about buying and selling prints. The point being buying cheap and selling high is pretty much what everyone does. Personally if someone buys a print and sells it for more good luck to them. But as for this particular member and what he has done... i have no knowledge and thus no opinion.
So I was just joining in a debate about flipping with no particular reference to any individual. It may be that the person in question is a profiteering swine and deserves all he gets, I have no idea.
So apologies if I started typing without being more aware of the specific incident under discussion.

And for my part - I have just learnt the dangers of using the last 100 posts button and joining in a discussion without taking the trouble to actually find out what the rest of the thread was about
