swap my donut, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2009 23:50:54 GMT 1, Some of you people make me laugh! Demanding sensitivity like someone has just died, just because some didn't win a print and they are grieving. Get some perspective guys!!!!
Then, some of you speak of such hypocrisy (and you know who you are) like butter wouldn't melt...
Leave the guy alone, it's his fuckin print and he probably cares as much about all your thoughts and feelings as I do. I had everyone I know enter the lottery just so I could swap it for a VLH and I hold no shame in that. So what am I? A flipper, a cunt or a guy with a passion much much bigger than his budget can take? Quite frankly, I dont care and I care less when I'm looking at my DSTQ funded by my unsigned TH and my SS funded by my Nola. Not all of us can afford secondry market prices, does that make us less of a 'man with a passion'? Bollocks!!!

swap my donut, by monkeyart on Jul 30, 2009 23:54:40 GMT 1, Maybe but, the other side from Mr B (if I was him) I'd want as many people as possible to own my art, the more the better, if you want to grow in the public eye? Its very difficult, but from the numbers that have gone to the Bristol show perhaps he should go the Hirst way, I hope not but if he wants to be around serious art buyers (saatchi, please no!!) choice then so be it. I personal think Mr B is trying to say fuckoff to the high end artworld by doing this? If he had artworks at the show for sale around half a mill, (so I've heard) he really is now in a different league than POW, BUT he chooses to still do his signed print for less than ยฃ500 in small runs. So as more wine goes down the more I"m confused. So I wish everyone who bagged the new print and put it on your walls and leave it for the kids as it will be worth a fucking fortune in years to come ;-)

swap my donut, by monkeyart on Jul 31, 2009 0:02:34 GMT 1, Also (sorry) would like to add. at least Mr.B hasn't gone the Micallef route 1000's of editions, thinking about it now and even drunker! This is very clever, as we (like everyone) knows there is another release coming soon, which we have even less chance, thanks by Mr B :-)!

swap my donut, by Deleted on Jul 31, 2009 0:30:59 GMT 1, Jickle, most wouldn't know where to look ;D. I too have been the weirdo taking pictures of walls whenever I go out. Whilst at Art college in 89/90 my camera never left my side and Spray can art and a fat poster pen was all that mattered, those days haven't changed that much, well apart from I'm middle aged with house and three kids ;D and bombing days are over .
do you have any pets?

swap my donut, by Deleted on Jul 31, 2009 0:35:16 GMT 1, the simple point to make in all of this, is every single print currently being sold etc is that they're in breach of the t&c and that's it
i guess POW will be on the case tomorrow

swap my donut, by anodyne13 on Jul 31, 2009 0:38:30 GMT 1, The problem with these Banksy Prints is it makes a lot of people feel entitled that they should get these prints at BELOW MARKET PRICE straight from POW. In reality the print releases are just a free chance to get a discount on a Banksy print. If you really love Banksy Prints and are "So gutted" you would just pony up the after market price and buy one. The next logical scenario would be that POW just sell the prints AT or close to Market Cost (like Faile), and then you could buy straight from the source. But no, you want to have your donut and eat it too, and feel you are entitled to below market cost. It shouldnt be a surprise that people are in it just for the money or they want to trade their prints. When ANY product is offered that far below market pricing it would be a F'ING surprise if people were not influenced by the money. You aren't owed a Banksy print at cost because the price that POW is selling them at is a GIFT from Banksy. You want that gift, you have to take all the other stuff that goes along with it, at least you have a chance (however slim it might be) of obtaining a print at a significant discount to what you should be paying.

Not all of us can afford secondry market prices, does that make us less of a 'man with a passion'? Bollocks!!!

Point taken onetrickpony. I see where you're coming from. But offer this after a month or two at least. Not on the fuckin' day you've bagged one!

swap my donut, by nex on Jul 31, 2009 12:03:59 GMT 1, there's a number of elements to this - firstly those who genuinely want the print for their wall, i think they're allowed to feel somewhat aggrieved at others selling prior to even receiving - yes? secondly, people flouting the terms and conditions of PoW, they won't receive so as long as PoW are checking no need for the sadness these prints will go back in the pot. Thirdly, these are below market price - as Banksy still wants these prints to get to his fans and guess what they're probably people who cant afford the secondary market prices...
but yes obviously numerous prints will be sold on and the pull of such an easy profit is great - but that does not necessarily (at least in the very short term) make it right? Or something we should be happy with? Should we?

swap my donut, by bigtlt on Jul 31, 2009 12:20:18 GMT 1, The problem with putting a print out for way less than market value, is you'll always get non banksy fan interested! If I heard from my mate that if you enter this lottery and you win the print you'll get ยฃ1,500 in return, I'd say thats a no brainer? The trouble is there are genuine banksy collectors out there which miss out, the more wider audience Mr B get the more interest especially if theres a quick buck to be made. At the end of the day ยฃ400 odd quid is alot of money and I'm sure if Zboik (No offense) was to bring out an image that he/she/shim absolutely loved they would think twice? As no safety net. Anyhow as I said before there is no answers, unless Mr B starts selling them for ยฃ2k each (which I would like to see just the once and see how many people are really interested) Yes I missed out, but as said before, I brought plenty 6 years ago which I have all but one, looking forward to the Zebra release and POW can we go back to Apple R? f**king hell I go on, and as or all the others on ebay, POW WILL cancel there orders, so good luck to everyone again for tomorrow!! Peace MA Also makes me laugh, some people pissed on this thread, have done exactly the same thing! shame one you, you know who you are! Very well made point. Hate to say, but maybe raising prices to market value would stop it happening?
But raising the prices to market value can stop new collectors - like me - from having any chance of buying a Banksy, as I don't have the funds to buy at market value and don't currently have enough other pieces I could sell to raise that type of funds..
Selling pieces like this in an acceptable price range allows a lot more people to get involved in buying art.
And for those bitching about people selling there prints, how do you hope to buy one in the future if you expect people to not sell them...
Would expect the majority of people that entered the lottery were actually people interested in owning a banksy, wether they get their preferred piece by swapping or selling is not of concern. if they decide to sell, they will only sell at market value anyway bringing us back to the point above.
If your willing to pay market value and not have a lottery why not just buy from a seller not wanting the piece!
I myself would keep it if I won, just seeing it from a different side too

swap my donut, by linkd95 on Jul 31, 2009 12:30:24 GMT 1, I would have to say there's two sides to this, the first side FLIPPING, yep he's swapping it for something straight after hes bought it, he didnt like the image and just wanted to swap it for a Nola or S&S even though the Donuts is no way a superior image to it and also if he didnt like it in the first place why doesnt he let a real collector/ actual lover of the art buy it from him at cost price. The second side is WOULDNT YOU DO THE SAME, this Donuts print which the guy doesnt like bought it at cost price for winning the lottery, if a banksy came up for this price and even if you didnt like it wouldnt you do the same and buy it for the investment and money you can make out of it. The last time I saw this print on ebay its price was at ยฃ2500, so its like saying im gonna give you a print worth ยฃ2500 which i bought for ยฃ400 odd because i dont like the image, im sure some of you would do this and rather swap it for the Nola or S&S.

swap my donut, by jusdeep on Jul 31, 2009 14:12:59 GMT 1, There's always two sides to every story Linkd. I would have to say that at least wait until the print arrives before trying to swap, the image may appeal more in the flesh, then if you don't like it consider your options. If you didn't like the image in the first place and are only in it for gain, then shame on you! Swapping the print is the buyers descission and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with multiple Banksy prints who would relish the idea of a straight swap for an image they missed out on.

swap my donut, by robo on Jul 31, 2009 15:24:37 GMT 1, Heya; in the hope of not igniting any controversy (i haven't read this entire thread) i just wanted to mention that if someone has a Strawberry Donut, I'd offer them my Stop & Search for it. Seems a good way for everyone to get an even more preferred image up on the wall. Plz PM - thanks!
