I tend to agree; it's all about finding ways of upgrading your collection and Banksy releases are one way of doing it (although I've yet to sell a Banksy but would consider it if there's a piece I want more).

swap my donut, by monkeyballs on Jul 30, 2009 20:56:07 GMT 1, No one seems to have considered Kit Kat might have tried and failed to get the Very Little Helps & Nola prints, they also appears to have a taker who clearly missed out on Donuts and wants to swap. I would actually say thats a good result for both parties and by burning KitKat you guys could well be putting off people ready to swap with something you own, leaving them with ebay and the forum fury there too, whilst you still have the swapable print in its folder cos you haven't got the folding to buy off ebay?

swap my donut, by ABC on Jul 30, 2009 21:24:29 GMT 1, Why did so many people register for this? 80% of this forum (I'd say) was for monetary interest, harsh but true.
You only have to look at the numbers that lurk just to gain that little bit of info that could give them a return. After every release the same thread appears, get over it, people that have been successful will always get slated whatever they do.
Being a Banksy collector for a few years now, I've turned down loads of Art because the images were not my cuppa, but those were the days when you had time to decide if you wanted it on you wall or not and money did not factor. Those days are over, you have to buy now then decide after with Mr B, otherwise you lose out.
Yes I'm gutted I didn't one but then again I can reflect on the others prints that I did.

He had plenty of time to decide if he or his mum wanted it on there wall? Buying a Banksy print via F5 and doing this would not bother me to much, as he had put the hours in, and like you said he might not have had time to decide if he wants the image on his wall or not. but i think this is different, and out of order. but i accept other point that it's a win win for someone who wants the image and has a S&S to swap, and it's the game we are all in i guess

Why Harsh? I've been in 2 minds as to take the piss or engage in an adult conversation, so I think Ill do both.
Having bought / photographed Banksy since 2003 I'm astounded, amazed and pleased that he's reached the heights he has from an artistic, creative and financial view. I love what the man has done on the street. Flip side Banksy = $ and this seen nowhere worse than this forum. How many times you entered, do you like? what is next? Fuck me I'd rather drink the sweat off my own balls than get invovled in some of he insular conversations that get going on on here. Self proclaimed experts who've come to notice what's going on around them in the last 2/3 years (who really know f*ck all). If you have any love for Banksy and street art get out and take a look. Stop talking via a keyboard with people you don't know and paint on the street. Grow some balls and forget about making a few quid

I too have been the weirdo taking pictures of walls whenever I go out. Whilst at Art college in 89/90 my camera never left my side and Spray can art and a fat poster pen was all that mattered, those days haven't changed that much, well apart from I'm middle aged with house and three kids ;D and bombing days are over .

Bollox. Buying a print just to make money. Call it what you like. All with the intention of making money at the expensive of true collectors want. You're not saying this is right? Flipping is flipping.

Well why do you collect them? Is it because you love the image? or because it's worth something? If it's the image, I'm assuming you've bought all the posters and postcards from the Bristol show and have them at the framers as we speak?

This is a Banksy forum for people that love his stuff and yes i did buy a poster, loved the exhibition and yes, i like the image. I know everyone is guilty of selling something on they no longer want to further their collection. Any true collector would be lying otherwise but having bought most of my Banksys for secondary value. It pisses me off. No offence but yknow.

swap my donut, by monkeyart on Jul 30, 2009 23:31:20 GMT 1, The problem with putting a print out for way less than market value, is you'll always get non banksy fan interested! If I heard from my mate that if you enter this lottery and you win the print you'll get ยฃ1,500 in return, I'd say thats a no brainer? The trouble is there are genuine banksy collectors out there which miss out, the more wider audience Mr B get the more interest especially if theres a quick buck to be made. At the end of the day ยฃ400 odd quid is alot of money and I'm sure if Zboik (No offense) was to bring out an image that he/she/shim absolutely loved they would think twice? As no safety net.
Anyhow as I said before there is no answers, unless Mr B starts selling them for ยฃ2k each (which I would like to see just the once and see how many people are really interested)
Yes I missed out, but as said before, I brought plenty 6 years ago which I have all but one, looking forward to the Zebra release and POW can we go back to Apple R? Fucking hell I go on, and as or all the others on ebay, POW WILL cancel there orders, so good luck to everyone again for tomorrow!! Peace MA
Also makes me laugh, some people pissed on this thread, have done exactly the same thing! shame one you, you know who you are!

Very well made point. Hate to say, but maybe raising prices to market value would stop it happening?
