Basically I'm looking for a decent forum member - someone who bought Empire State but has since fallen out of love with it, or can't afford to pay off the CC, or has been told by the other half that there's no way it's going on the wall, or whatever...

I'm willing to pay cost + shipping from BRP to you and from you to me + whatever you think you should be paid for the effort of getting the print... eg; £50 train fare, £10 lunch money, X hours in the queue @ £20 per hour.

That is all I am prepared to pay though. I know it's a long shot - but if you don't ask, you don't get.

So there it is, go ahead forumites - make my day! ;D

And I have experienced it, two ways - bought a Hush print from forum member for less than he possibly could've got on the bay and passed that discount on very recently also, it wasn't much, more of a gesture......

Not sure that someone who would rock up at London Art Fair, make a beeline for BRP expressly for the purpose of flipping, then do a 'gimme' to someone they don't know but good luck anyway, if you don't ask you don't get. I fear in this case you won't get.

Bollox to the non beleivers, if i had one i didn't really want then it would have been yours Robin, fair request IMO and sent out in the true spirit of the forum. Sadly the only people who queued for the print either bought it to frame or to make a quick £800, chances of scoring one are extremely slim I fear!

i honeslty think that either Nick or BRP put one up for 5k and buy it back to set a bench mark. Does not happen with Banksy's but with Walkers. Strange if you ask me....

lol that is an outragous statement on reflection. what i mean to say is that i feel that BRP are the best in the business when it comes to creating a buzz. I know that we as mere mortals don't really know all the ins and outs of the art world, but knowing Nick and Mike reasonably well I would 99.5% say that it wouldn't happen.

They would be found out one way or another and then their reputations would be fucked for life, Mike doesn't just represent Nick, so why not do it with all of his Artists?

the graph has not got enough information, if you look at it, the line of best fit could go any way-its just gone that way because theres the biggest contrast

Having seen the amount of Nick Walker prints that ended up on ebay for all of the recent releases it wouldn't work if they gave previous buyers priority as it seems a large chunk of those are buying to sell.

It would need to be something introduced from the very first release and in which case i think this would just add to further hype new artists as more flippers would buy new artists in the hope they get priority on future releases in the artist gets popular.

It also seems a bit strange to have a go at BRP for selling their prints as a free for all as pretty much every big gallery does it that way. Selling originals is different because the galleries have more say on what goes where (having bought a few original pieces i have spoken to the gallery owners before they've sold which is reassuring as they have the artists long term interests at heart).

I am sure if there was a better way to sell prints loads of galleries would do it. Faile tried fair-q and POW did the open day but there are still huge amounts on the bay.

(I haven't tried to get a Nick Walker print from BRP but i have witnessed the chaos, and have also tried and missed out on my fair share of banksy, hecox, josh keyes prints etc so i know how frustrating it can be)

BRP handled the release really well IMO. Sarah took everyone names pretty much on arrival and Mike was straight out to tell people if they had not made 100. Everyone in the UK had the same chance even if it did mean taking a days holiday or jumping on the train. People were still making the queue around 1pm. I don't know what more BRP could have done better really?

Personally I think Empire will be cheap to buy for a while as was London when it was released and you don't have the joy of queuing for 7 hours. I for one can't wait to get this beauty on the wall so that's one less on eBay anyway.
