Nick Walker exhibition, friday 8th december, by mred on Dec 5, 2006 21:44:03 GMT 1, Whose going?
I've got a work commitment that evening so thought about going afterwards as normally end up as bit of session , however sounds like one of the rooms is only going to be open between 6 pm and 9 pm so maybe have to make my excuses shoot over from Bath for quick look and then shoot back to Bath a little late for work commitment. Sounds like a recipe for disaster especially at rush hour although probably worth risk as will get to see whole show.
Looking forward to seeing triptych print, seen a few versions on canvas and always look great. I think one has my name on it!!!
The retrospective element should also be awesome, Nick has done some great work over the years, some you can see on ApishAngel.Com but some never made it there, may be we will get to see some of them on Friday!!!
Hope to see a few of you there
P.S. A Apishangel forum would be great, hint hint, charging camera battery in preparation for get the monkey out thread!!!!!

Nick Walker exhibition, friday 8th december, by brut on Dec 7, 2006 22:42:11 GMT 1, Can't wait for the excibition tomorrow. I live in kent & i will be making a special journey to see it. I have not been to santa's ghetto yet (going on sunday) as i just can't be with all the bloody hype. I have a pic of the mona shot giclee which nick sent me a couple of months ago. This is a truly great print & i suggest you get one pretty soon as it will go fairly quick. I will post the print on saturday as it would be unfair of me to show it before the show opens. I hope this puts nick more into the limelight as he is a true pioneer & to be honest the mona simpson print on pow does not show of this guy's great talent.

I do, but they are archived back on my work server. Likely you'll see them in the flesh before I can dig them out. let me know if not and on Monday I'll see what I can do.

Nick Walker exhibition, friday 8th december, by mred on Dec 10, 2006 11:33:18 GMT 1, Hi went for a quick visit on opening night although did not stay as long as I would have liked as had work commitment. Thought show was great, might pop in again for second look before it closes.
If you have not been yet get yourself down. Retro element fun especially as Nick has done some new spins on some of his iconic pieces like White Panties - which for the show are done almost in pop art colors and displayed as group of 3. Hope someone got pictures as I did not have camera on night. Origin of species get better every time, would look brilliant on any wall although especially good if you had a modern apartment and wanted a splash of color. Also few pieces I had not seen before but up to Nick's normal high standard.
If you go make sure you check top floor will be open as I think the star of show is up there. With Christmas and a newer car it means for me funds at present are such that I could not even dream of thinking about buying it. If no one else falls in love with it maybe in few or 6 months can get money together and get it although knowing my luck it will go same way as Miss Chevious last year.
Whilst I was there first hour or so seemed to be good stream of people and if anything more there when I left than when I arrived. Lot more interest this year probably in part to this site and POW. Steady stream of people buying the prints as well as a couple of canvases wrapped to go. Daz205 I think I was queuing when you picked your Vandal canvas up. I had intentionally not taken any cash to avoid temptation, however when I realized they were taking credit cards my resolve failed and I ended up going out with the Vandal triptych print and arriving late for work commitment. I thought great touch that credit card receipt had Apishangel on it.
For those who have been what did you think and did you get anything? I am not sure I want to know as will be gutted if I find out some one has snapped up piece I want .

Nick Walker exhibition, friday 8th december, by brut on Dec 10, 2006 20:24:28 GMT 1, I know what you mean about the knickers print lesroy. It is a great image that has something special about it. I am lucky enougth to own a few of nick's prints all being A/P's. I have the green Knickers print & the gold & red mona shot. The great thing about them is that they are hand sprayed. Went to Bristol on friday & had a great time. If anyone is in the area then call in as you will not be dissapointed.

You just need to post the code for each picture in between the [/img] tags, then it will work.

Also nice to see one of the pioneers and true gents of the Bristol scene finally reaching a mass audiance.

Nick Walker exhibition, friday 8th december, by mred on Dec 13, 2006 18:45:38 GMT 1, Took my Vandal Triptych to local framers (Bath) yesterday. I was a little shocked by price they wanted just over Β£140 (nearly as much as print) or Β£210 if I went for UV glass!! Could get price down to Β£100 without UV glass but that meant going for spindly frame and single aperture in mount.
In the end convinced myself to go for what I thought would look best and will have to put it on the plastic. Should be ready just before Christmas :)if not will have to wait until mid January!!!!
For the record I have gone for plan square black frame, white mount with black edging and aperture for each frame of triptych. Non-UV glass. We had quite a long discussion about whether we should show edition number and Nicks signature, in the end I decided not to and so mount will come tight up to edge of each frame of triptych. Think it will look better for that but unfortunately no one will see its limited edition.
Will post picture when get it back but hopefully it will look awesome.
What are others doing? See none on ebay yet so hopefully true fans have got them not speculators ;D
