Obey Peace Tree on metal FS, by afroken on Nov 18, 2008 12:39:49 GMT 1, Thanks Wizbong. The whole chargeback thing sucks. I provided all the proof they needed and they still found in favour of the buyer. It's disgraceful and there seems to be nothing I can do about it.

Obey Peace Tree on metal FS, by afroken on Nov 18, 2008 15:45:48 GMT 1, They're one in the same thing. Credit card companies do the chrageback; Paypal just passes it on automatically. In my case it was through Google Checkout who are a little, although not much, more helpful than Paypal.
I've been told that for items worth over ยฃ150 I have to be able to supply the credit card association with a signed delivery note. Tracking numbers and acknowedgements of receipt by email are worth s**t. No signature, no contest basically.
It seems insane but this is what I've been told by Google Checkout. My own research reveals that many CC companies in the US let customers issue chargebacks for 18 months after a purchase. So, you buy something, 6 months later it's value has gone down or you decide you don't want it anymore, so you take a sledge hammer to it and report it as defective. You get your money back.
I'm not saying that's what happened in this case. I haven't actually been told what the claim was for apart from a standard 'item defective'.
I'm obvously not giving up and I'm trying to get more information from Google Checkout so I can take legal action. At the moment I don't even know who to take legal action against, apart from someone at an addess in California.
So, get a signature people. That's the only advice I can give at this stage.

Obey Peace Tree on metal FS, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 18, 2008 15:58:27 GMT 1, Not seen that Peace Tree piece before Afroken. Nice imagery! Very communist looking and powerful, it epitomizes Shep's work really. Not his biggest fan, but this is a nice-looking piece. Good luck.
Really sorry to hear about that chargeback business. Fingers are crossed for you. It's quite worrying really, I mean who the fuck gets a sig'? You get an email saying thanks, this is great, you get an affirmative that it's been delivered from the poastal service, why would you ask for a hand-written letter. When was the last time anyone even wrote a bloody hand written letter?! Don't the USPS have a record of the sig' they took upon delivery?

Obey Peace Tree on metal FS, by afroken on Nov 18, 2008 16:09:34 GMT 1, I always assumed that international couriers require a signature. Apparently this isnt the case. The sender has to specifically ask for a signed for service, which costs a little extra. Crazy huh?

Obey Peace Tree on metal FS, by bored with screen names on Nov 18, 2008 16:18:18 GMT 1, That's awful. I only recently found out that with paypal anything over $250 required a signature for the seller to be protected.
I can't imagine all of the times I sent $hundreds or $thousands worth of prints without a signature being required. Scared the living daylights out of me.
How much is this Peace Tree on Metal roughly worth?

Obey Peace Tree on metal FS, by limitup on Nov 18, 2008 17:28:28 GMT 1, I'm in CA. I'm sure you have this guy's address, right?!
If he's in SoCal(Southern California), I know some roughnecks that'll act as messengers, for a small gratuity. They'd counsel him, in an unconventional way, to drop the case. ;-)
Or, if you know somebody that lives out here, throw them a hundo($100) to pay him a visit.
Just thought I'd offer a street savvy way of resolve.

That's exactly how I bought it. I don't think it's oxidised. I think it's burns from the metal cutter. It adds a lot grit and character as opposed to the cleaner ones I've seen.
Here's a crisper photo I just took:
