Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Harveyn on Nov 18, 2008 12:44:38 GMT 1, Cheers Wiz, amended the title of the thread.
Thought it would be fun to see what trades people might consider. Its a stunning piece and if it does not go then still smiling this side.
Consider BAST, Supine or Neate.

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 18, 2008 17:04:04 GMT 1, Can only echo the above sentiments of surprise! Any specific reason you're not still in love with this so recently after buying it? Looks fantastic to me! I know it's not one of his larger canvasses, but it is an especially attractive one imo. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Harveyn on Nov 18, 2008 18:06:41 GMT 1, Did not think I would get quite as much stick as I have other this sale. Noticeable worse on another forum.
I am going to give the same explanation as clearly my actions warrant it.
One thing I would say that I never buy art to store away for a rainy day and its pretty much on my walls or it goes. As its pretty full on my walls if something new arrives generally something has to go.
I can be fairly impulsive when I buy a piece and sometimes that does not work. Even when I have only lived with that piece for a relatively short time. Okay thats how I buy art and I have always said my feeling on art is about the visual presence and impact of a piece. How I interact with it, how it interacts with me and my environment when I can actually I feel it, touch it and see it.
Its always been about the visual impact for me. No more no less.
Over 70% of my collection has not moved from the wall from the day I bought it. So I get more right than wrong.
On this one I just feel more connection with David's more abstract and edgy pieces. I have another of his originals and I get great pleasure from that. I just have not connected with this piece. As I say I am fairly impulsive. I do not deny its qualities but it just not doing it for me.
I do not hate it but I do not love it. I tried re framing it to see if the distraction of the frame that it came with was the problem but this did not work.

you don't have to explain yourself harveyn. what you do with your belongings is entirely up to you.

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 18, 2008 18:31:04 GMT 1, Sorry if my post came across as "giving you stick," it was 100% unintentional if so! I was simply being curious.
I can relate very closely to a lot of what you have said there. I'm very impulsive as a buyer too and go for images I like, but sometimes when they arrive they just don't have the same special feel I thought they would (a "connection" as you put it isn't made) OR I just can't find a suitable place to put them. I totally relate!

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Harveyn on Nov 18, 2008 18:49:29 GMT 1, HC - No need to apologize. I felt along with a number of things I have put up for sale lately this probably deserved an explanation. It was also a knee jerk reaction to some other comments.
I tend to post images of pieces I have bought and therefore I guess I am fair game if I decide to sell. I think a lot of people have stopped posting images for this very reason. Just my opinion of course and maybe one I should think more carefully about posting images of new pieces.
I think this is or can be misinterpreted as a means to an end. Promoting a future sale. This could be no further from the truth and if anything all I am guilty of is a bit of showing off.

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by wiz on Nov 18, 2008 18:54:40 GMT 1, I reckon i know Harveyn well enough to say he didnt come to the decision to offer this Choe up lightly, i assume there were many ifs and buts, but like you say Harveyn some pieces just dont "do it" when we get them home so thats that. Again .. its a lovely Choe.

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 18, 2008 19:17:56 GMT 1, Neil, please don't stop showing off!!! ;D I love seeing everyone's art and you have a habit of buying some cracking pieces. It's fantastic for the community imo, that there are some members who like to rotate their collections or have the luxury of having transient collections (whatever you want to call it!). Just means we get to feast our eyes on even more great art.

110% agreed.
I derive almost as much pleasure from showing off my art pieces and viewing others as I do having them on my walls. Why would you hide it away, especially as the whole concept is art for the masses!
Lovely piece btw. Can you maybe PM me what you think current market value is, I'm not up on Choe!
best ed

Keep showing those pieces (sales or not) as ed says I get most pleasure of all from seeing peoples pieces, it's what it's all about.

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by Martin Whatson on Nov 19, 2008 1:19:31 GMT 1, And as you say, its better to let it go to someone that really love it and want to keep it on their wall. Rather then it dusting down under your stairwell or something! Im getting irritated when I think about how many pieces I would love to have on my walls just sitting in portfolios out there never seeing the light of day! AND when people finally thinks of selling them they usually want to milk as much money as possible out of it! Most also knows how it is to have a woman in the house. Impulse buying new clothes all the time to just hang it in the closet never wearing them :S Jeez! hehe
Keep posting your new arrivals. Love to see them!

Choe Original Release Trade for Neate Supine BAST, by thesewalls on Nov 20, 2008 19:53:45 GMT 1, to answer the questions about pricing, i believe he paid $22,000, which is relatively inexpensive for a nice Choe OG. but that's just a number, and i could be wrong...which is why trades are such a beautiful thing. if i only had a Neate, Supine or BAST OG that was on par with this lovely lady. good luck with the ol' switcheroo there Harveyn.
