Totally sick of losing auctions.

Is it worth signing up to web-based sniping sites. I see they ask for my passowrd which makes me a bit nervous as doesn't this give them access to my credit card??

Are they any good, are they seen as "not cricket", what is best one? Or does everyone use them and I am the only "Joey" on here?

I have never had a problem done probably 25 snipes they have been around for quite sometime as well. Any site that will be able to place bids for you must have your eBay info. 3 free snipes give them a shot

I usually just wait for last 30 seconds and then start adding £10 until I have the winning bid or until I reach my credit limit. If I cant do it I ask my mate to and vice versa. And its free!

I'd never heard of such sites, so you're not alone Nacional! However next time I feel the need to shop in ebay for anything of value, I will certainly explore the possibility. Thanks guys!

A quick and simple ebay trick when bidding,never end your bid in 0s or 5s for example 100 should be 100.99 or 101.99 and 105 should be 106.99 and so on,doing it this way has def won me a few auctions by the bare minimum required to win it.

I don't understand all these tricks for winning auctions. Surely if your bid is higher than anyone elses you will win regardless of when the bid is placed?

If you want something badly enough then be prepared to pay a premium for it or don't moan about not getting it.

Thing is , I want to buy a Micallef JD, if I want to win I am not going to put in a bid for 1500 quid straight off, i want to pay as little as i can to secure the thing, so I whack up my bid in small increments to try and leave the other bidders behind.
What happens to me all the time is that I seem to be winning until 1 second before the end of the auction when someone or something whacks in a bid that is always a few quid more than mine. Because it is so close to the closing point of the auction I don't have time to put in a new bid and lose the thing.
Sniping sites whack in the bids with superfast software that comes in right at the end of the auction and don't give non-snipers time to put in another bid.
VIZ, I lose, snipers win, I get sniped up i can win. It seems as if almost all use snipers so that is why I am losing the desirable stuff...

Surely if you bid £1500 for a JD on day 1 it stays at whatever the lowest bid is (Say £500)

Then if someone snipes the auction with a bid of £1000... then you only wind up paying £1100ish.

If they snipe more than £1500... you miss out.

Have i understood this correctly? Am i missing something as to where sniping helps? Surely you still pay what you were willing to pay

Regarding sniping: you win offa them cbeacuse they sneak (snipe) in with a bid in the last 1 second. This means that you do not get drwan into a pissing contest with some other bloke as the other bloke doesn't have time to get back with his bid that is more than yours. Its all about timing: I've sat here so many times with a winning bid, then with one second to go, everything goes wild as loads of snipers lunge in and my bid, that was number 9, gets beaten by bid number 25 that is only 17 pounds more than mine. I don't have time to react to this bid even if i was willing to up my bid.

Hope this explains it, but I have a feeling it won't.....
