Everyone stay away from ebay user art-oholic, by jonruch on Jun 19, 2008 14:11:22 GMT 1, He is a non-paying jerk who then decides to leave negative feedback for no good reason.
This buyer has engaged in outright extorsion. My listing unambiguously states "the winning bidder will be provided with proof of purchase." When the item was originally purchased, it was paid for with Paypal. "Proof of purchase" can have no other meaning than the Paypal receipt for the original purchase. Instead of asking a question during the 7 days of the auction the buyer chose to bid for the item and then make outrageous demands for my personal information, signatures, family lineage etc.
If anyone knows this guy, please punch his head in for me.

Everyone stay away from ebay user art-oholic, by artforartssake on Jun 19, 2008 15:16:00 GMT 1, I think you could be being a bit hasty here, as far as I'm concerned it is accepted practice that when you sell a print you not only provide documentary evidence of your purchase, but also a document of transfer stating name, address, print details etc and confirming the change of ownership. If this is what he has asked for then it's fair enough.

Everyone stay away from ebay user art-oholic, by jonruch on Jun 19, 2008 16:39:47 GMT 1, I think you are missing the point. As the seller, I determine what I will or will not be giving the buyer. Not the other way around. I have no problem giving him the paypal receipt as promised in the listing, but I don not have to sign a wavier that he is issuing or sign any other papers. As far as "accepted practice" maybe this is accepted by you, but it is far from an industry standard to sign buyer's waivers. Feel free to sell this guy anything you want, but I suggest people stay away from the type of people that demand all sorts of stuff (accepted practice or not ) and then turn around and give you feedback saying "item not received as described". A person that has the mind to do that deserves to be called out and kicked off ebay. Oh.. did I mention while he was demanding that I sign his paperwork, he had not paid yet. It may be a different story if the guy had actually proved to me that he was interested in purchasing the piece by making a payment.
ART-OHOLIC is a complete ARSEHOLE

If your bidding for something, then you should ask questions regarding prov and paperwork during the auction not after.
I had it a while ago, and the buyer wanted everything even down to contacting the artist for verification, on top of paypal reciept, and email correspondance that I had sent him, before he would pay for a ยฃ200 print.
Lifes too short, and i would rather not deal with people like this, so i didnt :-)

Would it have been the end of the world to type out...I Mr.xxx confirm i am the original buyer of xxx art print, now sold to Mr.yyy who is now the new owner??
If going just by what you have posted here, i would say this is a VERY long way from extortion
On here we are (well) advised to get as much as a paper trail as possible when buying anything, I've always thought that is good advice myself, and not unreasonable.
Ironic you are here online using the buyers name and then having a play with words to call him names..
I'm not Mr.ARSEHOLE by the way

When you say "right, I've won the auction and agreed to buy but I'll only pay once I've gotten something you ain't promised me," it might not be extortion, but it sure as shi**e ain't right!

Isn't it obvious? It's George Clooney outside of Yankee Stadium with a porn advert across his collar and a sea anemone wearing earrings exploding out of the mask he's wearing that's made of the New York Post masthead.
I guess you've never been to art school ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Adding "NO ONE KNOWS WHO BANKSY IS...MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE BANKSY IS SHEPARD FAIREY. THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW FOR SURE. IS THIS A BANKSY? MAYBE, IF TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY, IT IS." to a description for an Obey sticker you sold on Ebay. WTF???
P.S. I agree with you that the buyer should have contacted you with his request for provenance in advance of the auction ending.

Once I confirmed to him that I would do what he wanted and send it all with the print he paid straight away.

Everyone stay away from ebay user art-oholic, by stickee on Jun 20, 2008 23:59:56 GMT 1, hunderedollarhorse auction...................
This auction is for one double-sided LP of the EXTREMELY RARE & HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE
RADAR RAT 12" SCREEN PRINT
-GREY/GRAY EDITION-
that was produced by legendary artist
BANKSY
These stunning 12" x 12" two-sided lithographic screen prints sold out IMMEDIATELY before they left the distributors and were very rarely available at any retail outlets. These were produced for the band DIRTY FUNKER's newest album, Future 2008. Very few of these pieces were made in the GREY color, making these the scarcest of the three colors available.
Banksy's Original Radar Rat screen prints sell for over $50,000. Don't miss out on your chance to own a very rare piece of BANKSY and ART history.
Half of a Matching Pair. See my other auction for the rare BROWN edition.
These records are much like Banksy's Di-Faced tenners (which currently sell for well over $500), except a smaller number of these records were made. The winner gets one of them. If BANKSY's success continues, who knows how much these could be worth?

Everyone stay away from ebay user art-oholic, by bmjt on Jun 21, 2008 0:33:12 GMT 1, Aesthetic opinion is totally subjective, and often has little to do with inherent meanings. To me that image is abhorrent. The colour and composition contravenes all my personal tastes. I'm sure it has a very intelligent and meaningful subtext but it's just ugly (in my opinion). Much like the Winehouse.
