Am offering up my Neate Red and White self portraits from Elms for the best offer, both mint with full provenance. Am trying to buy a new original piece (not the parla, missed the boat) and need to come up with the money asap, have spoken to the gallery and they'll let me put down a £2000 deposit and pay off the remaining balance within 28 days which is what I am willing to allow the buyer of the Neates to do.

I don't really mind whether people PM or make on open bid. As for when I am taking offers until, I don't really know, until something comes through that makes me decide to sell I suppose. There's no point in me selling if the money offered is crap and won't cover the cost of the other piece so if offers don't arrive in the region of £7995-ish then I probably won't be selling any time soon and will just have to pass on this other piece as well.

I know it's a bad time to sell and good time to buy at the moment and to be honest if the buyer decided to stick them up for auction in bonhams or somewhere else that would be their own choice, I just don't want to do that as I'd like to buy this canvas asap if possible.

I'm surprised the Red sold first. Both classic Neates but White is pure class.

I preferred the Red but me ma' and sister preferred the white. My da' thinks they're both shit but then again he likes fields and sheep in his pictures.
