DEAD THREAD - IGNORE...., by snakes on Jun 16, 2008 18:41:12 GMT 1, Bloody heck I did not think a half skeleton would create this sort of interest!
He is looking in the region of about 175 for her or best offer..
ps. still looking for a Nick Walker - Life's too short...

DEAD THREAD - IGNORE...., by funyoung on Jun 16, 2008 22:59:02 GMT 1, Selling these has been illegal for many a year I believe. They usually are from Indian continent too. That is why it is probably quite short when laid out / joined up. Something to do with English people wanting to be buried (not that it stopped the grave robbers of course). Worth a few bob of course. Apparently the whole thing should fetch ยฃ300 or so. Careful who you sell to. Some people have motives other than enhancing their own anatomical knowledge.

DEAD THREAD - IGNORE...., by funyoung on Jun 16, 2008 23:02:34 GMT 1, Your local university Anatomy department would usually love to have them. I can help in that regards with respect to Brighton & Sussex Medical School (give you contact details anyway) but probably one closer to you. Real bones break over time and thus need to be replaced. The plastic skeletons from Rouilly are very good but there is something about a real skeleton that makes you want to appreciate the finer points of the foramina of the cranium to a greater extent.

DEAD THREAD - IGNORE...., by snakes on Jun 16, 2008 23:12:20 GMT 1, will suggest then that he puts a little back into the community and suggest that he contact his old med school to re home the old girl. Cheers for your input 'funyoung' as I was not overly sure on their legal status due to not having seen any on ebay!
Is interesting to know that many other over here are also from the Indian continent. On a point of interest she has a hole pierced in her skull; allegedly after death - something to do with releasing the spirit?

DEAD THREAD - IGNORE...., by funyoung on Jun 16, 2008 23:21:01 GMT 1, Sounds suspicious to me. Never seen one with a hole to release the spirit! You sure it wasn't done before death to release the spirit?
I know they can be sold in USA but not, i believe, over here. Which medical school did he go to? Most of the ones over here are from India, though they stopped all exports in the 1980's. China still export of course.
Have to admit - this 'illegal to sell bones' melarkey. I believe it to be the case but never seen it written down. Local coroner would be able to give you a definitive answer. Should be in the yellow pages. Coroners officer would probably welcome the change from the discussion about death. Like the time I rang the Savoy to help me with a crossword - 'bell-boy' in 4 letters or something. happy days.

DEAD THREAD - IGNORE...., by snakes on Jun 16, 2008 23:28:13 GMT 1, He was at Cambridge back in the day..
and re the hole - knowing my old man he probably dropped it and then made up the story as it sounded good. I have certainly always believed it for the past 30 years!
