Swiss Grit artwork, by stevec on Nov 3, 2024 3:13:25 GMT 1, Sharing the work of a great friend, designer and artist - Chris Ashworth. People here may be familiar with his work designing Raygun over the years. More recently, he has done work for Nike, New Order, Bush, Microsoft and many more.
His beautiful site includes a collection of affordable, hand-crafted work in keeping with his Swiss Grit style.
Check it out at www.thisisme.art/collections/art
I know Chris would be happy to chat to people about work, commissions or gallery representation too so please feel free to DM me if interested in any of these and I can connect you.
thanks, Steve

Swiss Grit artwork, by PC Baby on Nov 3, 2024 10:11:19 GMT 1, I much prefer almost all of the 'Sound in Print' original artworks. They are true 'Swiss Grit'! The one above reminds me of the frAGILE peace rat - done by Banksy, only better, with a message of hope and mending.. Apart from it being a piece of paper with a few tears, what does that tell us? 😎

Swiss Grit artwork, by PC Baby on Nov 4, 2024 12:16:08 GMT 1, Great choice, stevec and a noteworthy graphic designer.
Like I said, almost all of Chris Ashworth's original artworks speak to me and showcase true grit.
In his own words: "Swiss typography and design is the bedrock of all great graphic design, but it is soulless. I’ve tried to bring some soul to it."
However, IMO the artwork you showcased as representative of Chris's style not only contradicts what 'Swiss Grit' stands for, but it also trivializes Ian Curtis's lyrics (especially in light of his early demise shortly after this song came out), is highly disrespectful and certainly shows no soul!

I *think* that piece was commissioned by New Order as it happens. Will check with Chris and let you know.
Confirming that this piece was indeed commissioned by New Order - Chris details it and the process in the book.
In related news, I should also have mentioned that he has a pretty cool booking coming out soon too.
