Its a pretty shitty move.
i understand left over prints and ephemera but order forms and old dirty shoes ffs! Weird!

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by quinn on Oct 24, 2024 10:48:24 GMT 1, I’ve only watched it once but Is there not a section on the video where he says there were various emails going back and forth to I presume PC offering the stuff as it was the only documentation of his early years photography wise?
edit: around the 26min mark 2nd edit: trainers and Peckham rock are among some of the weird items indeed.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by My Name is Frank on Oct 24, 2024 11:14:21 GMT 1, If you wait around long enough I am pretty sure he has some Coconut Boost wrappers touched by Banksy and perhaps even an authentic print out of some text messages. Not forgetting a mug drunk from by the man himself, Garfield on the side.

But just an example of how other people are also selling private messages from celebrities at auction.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Tommy Tucker on Oct 29, 2024 0:39:32 GMT 1, What a load of tat… I mean I was sure nobody was going to bid on any of this so was surprised to check and see so many bids. Nothing with any type of COA and will very very unlikely get one from pest control. A shameless money grab from what looks like a very broken down relationship.
Does Banksy make money from the art market with secret shows for VIPs??…. Absolutely but at least he tries his best to keep it to those who have proven they deserve the works. This is just selling any old piece of paper to raise a few dollars to people that don’t know any better. They are buying a story and not artwork.
Julian’s sold pieces stolen off walls by Invader one month and this another. Very sad to see.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Lroy on Oct 30, 2024 12:17:49 GMT 1, Well, I just come back from Laz’sales and I’m not convinced at all about this sale. Not impressed.
It’s like a flea market, we can find everything for all tastes and wallets: posters, flyers, cd (ahah), prints, stickers, etc etc… It’s not the sale of the century, from far, just a guy wanted to make interest, and (why not) making fructifying his bizness. What is important, it will be the reaction about this great paint ‘n roll swindle : Will it give repercussions ( impacting) on Banksy ‘s artworks or value ( increase or big plouf /splash ? ) ? It won’t be anyway the world’s end, this world has other preoccupations, Banksy too, and us too.
POW’s ending was more important. Lazarides will stay as a common owner of a gallery, not “ the man who made the rise, hype or/and the fall of Banksy, kind of stepfather of street-art. He is just lucky to have a fortunate clientele, but I think even if he does not care, that this guy is sad, and in lack of success. Happy holidays in the sun, sir

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is what Steve thinks of banksy these days: boring. Maybe that is why he sells the lot (under duress). Hope he finds some new interests, as does banksy. Not that I think I’m boring but it must be so boring to ‘copy’ things (maybe read nick there).

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by leroy77 on Oct 30, 2024 15:45:18 GMT 1, What if Laz is just running these in recent days, say from his err.. West Country studio?
Would they still be authentic?
Obviously not, all he has to do is not add the red stamp and numbering to the back, he'll be running these out until his last breathe
They back up his story yes but it just makes them Laz-y's not Banksy's

Don't know whether it's actually a canvas, but this would be the work of Steve Lazarides himself.
Over the course of a surprisingly long period of time, he was embellishing with paint many photographs from his Banksy archive.
In this case, the source was a circa 2003 photo of a dairy cow that had been spraypainted by Banksy:
Warhol‑style image isolation and repetition was then introduced, before the result was printed out and painted on.
If only from an artistic perspective, I would argue this was seriously ill‑advised. But Lazarides did state he was having a lot of fun with the process, and he apparently also managed to sell a number of such creations via Laz Emporium.

The Banksy Archive of Steve Lazarides, by Love Is In The Air on Oct 31, 2024 9:59:02 GMT 1, This paragraph tells you a lot about the situation and the character/personality I think...
Lazarides says Banksy “seems to be pretty supportive of this [auction], which I am very happy about”. How does he know that he has Banksy’s blessing? Averting his eyes, Lazarides turns evasive. “Ah, you know, just through them vibes coming through the sky,” he says, before breaking into a grin with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
