Fine Art Logistics - NYC to London, by Eastend Boy 13 on Mar 15, 2024 13:47:38 GMT 1, I have a quote to transport a work of art (sculpture) from Sotheby's NYC to London - just wondering who people recommend from this type of service, as I'm new to this type of transaction? Also, options for storage of this piece on arrival in London until I find its permanent address/home? Are different companies known for being expensive/inexpensive/specialists etc? Thanks

Packengers and United Shipping and packing likely to be cheaper. Donโt use Flight Logistics as theyโll have to sub it out to someone local, if you need to send from London to US then Flight are good option.
In terms of storage you can try Hedleys, Cadogan Tate and Constantine Art Storage. Iโd get a quote from all 3.

Careful with The Packengers - if it is an expensive piece, make sure you get full coverage. If you bought it at auction, make sure they include the premium/taxes/etc. and not just the hammer price. Had a Hirst original significantly damaged by them and the entire settlement process was...well...a process.
