2.) Archangels

These are around £7200 with VAT on, take off a conservative £700 for the framing and you are looking at £6500 cost. For an edition of 100 that seems 'fair' to me. Comparing with secondary values on the Virtues at present your question should probably be '2 of the framed Archangels, or a Virtue?'  

Dependent on actually getting allocated one admittedly, but i would take one of these personally. I like them, personal choice but as others have said it feels like a solid answer to some valid criticisms that many have voiced re the approach taken for for his more recent releases (via Heni).

Ya, no depth. A photograph. I assume it'll be on better paper than the UPs which were expensive posters. DH deserves credit not for this release (or is it a drop?) but in his persistent don't give a f attitude to keep feeding the middle class masses and clout chasers tacky dross to slap on the wall in the hopes of appealing to higher classes and perceived sensibilities. The man knows how to hustle.

Saw these in person at Heni back in Feb. They look quite underwhelming in person, especially being giclee prints on paper. They looked a little washed out compared to, what could have been, a more vibrant screenprint. The giclee on aluminium on the virtues even look far more impressive when you compare.

Looks like they just wanted a way to re-purpose his most popular HENI release in a different way.

For what it’s worth, I think people are more concerned about the devaluation of the Virtues that will likely happen once these are released. These should be more desirable on the secondary market every way, except perhaps the dimensions. it is unlikely that these will sell for  more than what the virtues have been recently, meaning the virtues will likely fall a bit.

You think so? The Virtues look amazing in person. I own Politeness; the wall presence it has is very strong. I wouldn’t be surprised if this drop had the opposite effect and made the OG Virtues more desirable; then again this market atm is bad so who knows. These are beautiful in their own way. Heni posted a video of them in gallery this morning(swipe right below). I’m tempted but I’m passing on this, for the sole reason that I grabbed a Condo from Avante last month, otherwise I’d grab a Gabriel.

There’s over 7000 virtues in total if I recall correctly. I don’t know that 400 more prints is going to affect that market in any substantial way, but I do think the archangels will be much harder to come by than virtues.

I own a Control myself and I do think that most of the Virtues are excellent, but if there was a choice between diabond or paper at the time of release I would have picked paper. The Diabond to me gives off the slightest hint of tackiness to it that is hard to shake off.

I think they are great and after seeing them pop up here it incentivised me to sell Control from The Virtues. Although that wasn't the only driving factor, his mass release of dibond prints were. Applied for Gabriel and Uriel but then remembered I had the book and quite like Michael too. If you have a copy worth looking at them in there first before applying.

Hasn't happened in a long time though, and it actually buried many of the current threads. Not saying that that was the intention though

It actually happens every 3/4 weeks and sometimes even more often

I am on every day checking threads and its annoying so I always remember

it used to be even ore often than that for a time

just use new posts instead of new threads and its fine

anyone hiding the threads relating to this release because it is such a money spinner and this forum has such an impact on the global Damien Hirst market so as to think hiding the thread will make them money is frankly mentally ill

these are slightly below cost in a soft market as a best guess

taking into account fees both ways etc I can think of better ways to spend the best part of 10k

buy it if you like it
