Will be interesting how many of these editions will be held back for the public release / lotto. They are completely transparent this year with the amount that will be available to public.

They updated the below on their website stating as such. I would imagine the vast majority will be placed in collections or offered to their supporters in the first instance.

‘As a result of this, the portion of an edition sold through pre-orders can vary widely. We will always communicate the minimum number of artworks available through the public allocation, whether by draw or on a first come first served basis, on the product page. For example, “Edition of 30, minimum 15 available by draw”, or “Edition of 50, minimum 25 available on launch day.”’

If anyone is tempted to buy from the flipper on here, I would ask them to bear in mind the following points.

1. If AA hear about this (and they do read posts on here) they will probably cancel the guy's order. You will therefore be paying him for something he never actually receives anyway.

2. I remember reading in an interview that AA never sell all the editions in pre-sales. They always hold a few back for the official release date. In other words, you still have a chance to buy one at retail and from source. Don't waste your money.

3. You have absolutely no knowledge of the secondary price on these. You could easily end up paying the flipper a few thousand more than they actually sell for at auction. Flippers will inevitably hype the prices up but like the recent Invader prints from Heni, they end up selling at auction for far less than people imagine.

And, of course, you shouldn't be encouraging flippers anyway. We all lose out when flippers are around.

Just say no.

They are not releasing until next month and likely via a lottery system due to demand.

You can contact Avant Arte direct to enquire re pre-ordering a print. Some people have had phone calls scheduled with the AA team to discuss that side of things further.

Someone posted a screenshot of the AA site which didn't seem to mention "hand signed".  No doubt they are signed but I think people should double check as Condo has issue unsigned prints in the past.  But yeah, I'm not suggesting 6K is a bad price.  And, of course, you can hardly compare retail with secondary really anyway.  

Most of those sub $6K "prints" are small offset prints from a box of 10 that were free giveaways from the VIP version of Skarstedt Gallery's "Drawing Paintings" publication. They're what you buy in a museum gift shop, small prints, not signed, not numbered, stamped on the back, and not worth more than $10 each.

These haven't all been allocated, please tell me people aren't trying to flip already? That's really not smart especially on here, someone will quite happily grass you up to take your allocation. On these the smart money will hold onto them, inevitably dozens will come to market in next year or two, need to wait until all the ones being flipped are absorbed into stable collections (which they will be).

Whilst I agree with the sentiment and the bulk of your comments, these won’t go the way of the Heni Invaders (or most other recent drops) and I highly doubt anyone will be buying these below primary prices. Not trying to hype (I still haven’t even got an allocation yet), but that’s just how I see it. It may be that the mark up is not massive for flips as AA releases do get quite heavily traded early on, and whilst I agree that no one should be taking a turn yet, after the drop if you miss out and get offered one for a modest premium it’s probably worth it especially if you’re planning to hold.

I've bought a few things from AA over the years and got offered a phone call. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I don't really like the idea of being vetted for the chance to give thousands of pounds to a company so I skipped it. All feels very pretentious. I can understand why they are doing it but the majority of flippers and bedroom dealers are savvy enough to pretend to have a passion for art and talk shit on a phone call for 15 minutes.

I agree. I  don't like the idea of being questioned over the phone before they allow me to spend 6K.  They obviously want to try and filter out the flippers which is commendable but, as this site has already demonstrated, they have failed.
