The Jaunt • Book & Print Release, by The Jaunt on Apr 4, 2018 18:08:46 GMT 1, Back in October 2017, the French illustrator Tom Haugomat traveled to the island of Yakushima, Japan. Tomorrow we are publicly releasing the two prints following his trip. We wanted to give you guys the pre-release option to purchase.
Available for €120 at : thejaunt.tictail.com/product/039-tomhaugomat-secondedition
Available for €120 at : thejaunt.tictail.com/product/039-tom-haugomat-first-edition
A little word from Tom Haugomat: “I first learned about Yakushima island in ‘Mononoke’, one of greatest lm of the Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. Ever since I've been fascinated by this island which appeared to me as one of the most well-preserved areas on this planet and I thought that it could be the perfect place to get inspiration.
For my trip, I really wanted to escape the city life for a few days, and I was planning on doing some treks in the forests. I've been fascinated by the ancient cedar trees that live in the very heart of the Island. The forest is really dense there, and the air is so moist that foam is growing everywhere. At dawn, the fog was so thick that I couldn't see far. It wouldn’t have been surprised to meet a "Yokai" on the path in this magical atmosphere!
I sincerely enjoyed being surrounded by nature. I was actually not thinking that the place would be so wild, I learned that there are more deer living on the island than people! During my stay, the typhoon Saolo passed by the island which, I must confess, was quite impressive. Feeling the wind blowing on the house and seeing the gigantic ocean waves through the window was a sight I will never forget."

The Jaunt • Book & Print Release, by The Jaunt on Jul 12, 2018 11:32:43 GMT 1, Hey all,
Our latest print release by the one and only Mike Perry. The perfect print to capture that summer feeling.
Details: ± 70 x 50 cm 300 grams Somerset Satin 4 colour screenprint, including split fountain Edition of 50, signed and numbered by the artist (frame not included)
A little word by Mike: “On my first trip I almost died! I stepped out into the street looking in the wrong direction as a bus was bearing down on me. They had to slam on the brakes, tossing most of the passengers onboard in a violent-cartoonish way. The driver yelled at me with an exasperated voracity – his adrenalin was raging as was mine! It was one hell of a highlight.
Now, three years later, I’ve been so busy in the studio that I was really looking forward to having a peaceful break. When I am deep into the work I always forget that I need headspace. Getting into the car and driving away from New York loosens the mind and allows me the opportunity to explore ideas that have either been floating around waiting to get out or allows for new ideas to form. Mens sana in corpore sano.
I brought pens, watercolor, plenty of paper, Bass the dog, and most of my kitchen to cook with! While on my trip in the Catskills I spent a lot of time thinking about “time.” So while on a walk through the woods the image of an hourglass discarded in nature popped into my head.”
Available for €80 from the Print Archive: thejaunt.tictail.com/product/044-mike-perry

But you might want to talk to them on the phone rather than trying to find it on their site, I think the site is mainly A4/A3 formats.

The Jaunt • Book & Print Release, by The Jaunt on Dec 16, 2020 15:45:09 GMT 1,
The Jaunt is releasing their hand-finished print by David Heo today.
Inspired by his stay at the Jaunt Summer Camp earlier this summer, David Heo created a limited edition silkscreen print, featuring unique drawings on each print. Printed in an edition of 50, and available for €150. Direct link to order: www.thejaunt.net/printarchive/067-summercamp-davidheo
About David Heo: Having recently been named as part of Chicago’s next generation of Image Makers, David Heo is a young upcoming artist hailing from the city of Chicago. In his works, David utilises the symbology inherent to historical paintings and illustrations of mythology and folklore. Utilising history to create an exciting mix of grand mythical meta narratives to serene frames of domestic daily life. Depictions of horses, dogs and tigers are typologies of the people he encounters and interacts with in the night life.
About his experience at the Summer Camp: “To be honest, I didn’t have any expectations before going on the Summer Camp. I was just super looking forward to being able to get away from the city, especially, during this whole pandemic and everything lately. On my drive up to Camp Wandawega I was surprised to find a million and a half antique stores, which provided some good road trip entertainment. Aside from that, the most impressionable thing was how different my mindset shifted when I saw how green, quiet and serene Camp Wandawega was. I’m not a huge nature fan but going canoeing first thing every morning after I woke up was seriously a treat. I think the rustic structures within all the campsites and the huge lake which I was able to enjoy were two things that My time there definitely gave me a whole new set of inspiration that I’m normally pulling from.
Truthfully, I thought a lot about my partner throughout the whole trip. Because she would've loved the experience and been so ecstatic about everything that Camp Wandawega has to offer. I remember I Facetimed her when I first went canoeing and showed her my surroundings because it was that stunning. After that instance, a whole narrative of “relationships” and “to think of someone” came to my mind. That was the jumping point towards my print. I wanted to depict and gently invoke the questions of “who do you think about? ”and “are things good with them?”

The Jaunt • Book & Print Release, by The Jaunt on Aug 4, 2021 16:11:51 GMT 1, Happy to announce that we have recently opened our first museum exhibition at STRAAT Museum in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, the largest indoor street art and graffiti museum in the world.
New sights, new cultures and new friendships can all be powerful catalysts for the creative process of an artist. Denmark-based project, The Jaunt brings all of these forms of inspiration together in a beautiful way.
STRAAT Museum is proud to celebrate the global culture of street art and graffiti, and what better way to do that than to highlight a project like The Jaunt, which has sent more than 70 artists to international locations. STRAAT has invited The Jaunt to co-curate an exhibition in our dedicated gallery space, entitled ‘Out There Somewhere’. This exhibition is focused on two veterans of their ongoing program, Wasted Rita (Portugal) and Tellas (Italy). In tandem with the focus on these two artists, The Jaunt will also present an overview of their extensive print archive, featuring heavy hitters such as Cleon Peterson, Cody Hudson, Evan Hecox, Laura Berger, Tim Biskup and many more. With the world just starting to open up again, ‘Out There Somewhere’ is a perfect way to help get you inspired to go out, travel, and find new inspiration for yourself.
Wasted Rita The work of the Portuguese artist Wasted Rita explores her love-hate relationship with life and her surrounding world. Dubbing herself as a Natural Born Agent Provocateur, she likes to think, write and draw without filter, resulting in little gems of sarcastic wisdom, which reflect on an unconventional upbringing in a Catholic school. Rita was a participant in the highly touted Dismaland Project by Banksy.
Tellas The Italian artist Tellas is largely inspired by flora and foliage. Using abstract organic patterns, recognizable by a sophisticated aesthetic and a great attention to detail, Tellas creates poetic and meditative artworks. By juxtaposing his work directly into the urban context through his large-scale murals, Tellas reflects on the ties between humans and nature and the complex dynamics that blends us into a singular system.
The Jaunt The Jaunt creates opportunities and possibilities for artists. Since its inception in 2013, The Jaunt has worked with over 70 artists on trips all over the world. The project allows artists to shape new experiences and find inspiration – not just during the confines of their trip, but a lasting inspiration that hopefully permeates their entire artistic practise.
More information on www.straatmuseum.com or www.thejaunt.net If you would like to receive the exhibition catalogue, please get in touch with info@thejaunt.net
