Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Georgie Poppit on Feb 10, 2023 9:01:52 GMT 1, 'The Courtauld has worked in collaboration with Peter Doig to develop this limited-edition product. He has kindly offered that all proceeds from the sales are returned in full to The Courtauld.' Where invader needs his 'pension' 😁, Doig donates back to the institution. After sitting on the fence over both the ICA Harland Miller print and the Heni Invaders which I like , I have just pulled the trigger and bought my first Peter Doig print Hopefully not if you’re buying for investment or to flip

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by ECL on Feb 10, 2023 15:08:58 GMT 1, If you want a limited edition Doig on your wall, it's getting no cheaper than this and pinned against a major exhibition what's not to like. Image is classic Doig and decently presented, yes on the small side but if nicely framed will look the doigs bo1loxs. Think there are around 40 or so left unless they keep some back for physical purchases.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by artlife11 on Apr 8, 2023 23:43:48 GMT 1, Wow quite a clever tier system and strong sales of 200 prints. I think selling like this will encourage buyers of his prints in future. There is no shortage of very deep pocketed buyers of his originals

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by My Name is Frank on Apr 9, 2023 8:47:09 GMT 1, I had only really seen Doig's work on a computer screen, my wife used to work for the Courtauld so we always get invited along to Donors events as she knows most of them well and the Courtauld really do look after people, even ex employees.
It was a fantastic exhibition, the scale of things and the colour is just amazing. There is a very very recently completed piece there (think curator shitting themselves on the afternoon with a hole on the wall because Doig was finishing it in his studio).
They are proper transports to another place, I have to say seeing them in the flesh certainly made me think of Doig with much more regard than I did previously having only seen on screen.

It’s his normal practice to work on several pieces at once so it was probably a nervous wait for several works. Fascinating watching the transition from location and composition from different times and places in the one painting.

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Londown 01 on Apr 18, 2023 21:19:27 GMT 1, Funny that people are lusting over a 3k timed edition invader dibond Vs a signed/numbered edition on paper under half that price, by one of the world's biggest living blue-chip artists. Amen to that discussion on here about which invader enlarged photo sandwiched inside shiny Perspex is the “sleeper “ whilst a Doig edition of 200 for a third of the money doesn’t ruffle any interest apples and oranges as stated above but still what a bunch of chimps I can tell you folks which one of these works will still hold worth in 25 years but I’m not sure anyone is listening Doig isn't really to my taste, so I haven't been to this thread.
But I'm listening to what you're saying. You're spot on saying what I was thinking. And I am grateful you did.

Hoping you could elaborate on the tier system - were the new editions 1-10 they posted just the last 10 copies of the 200 and (edition 1 was number 1/200) or were they something else?

Peter Doig 🏴 Print Release • Scottish Painter, by Cocteau 101 on Apr 19, 2023 16:42:59 GMT 1, Yes I'm a bit sick that I passed on the print, I wasn't that keen on first sight but I went to see the works yesterday and there are some great paintings on display. The Alpinist and the boat painting are fantastic. Blotter remains my favourite Doig and is on display at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool as part of the past winners of the John Moores painting prize. As an aside you come out of the Doig exhibition face to face with Manet's, Cezannes and more legendary work. Cezanne's Man With A Pipe and The Card Players are unreal. When I was young I dismissed a lot of that type of art as completely not relevant. Regardless of the print if you like Doig you should make an effort to see these works, there is also a display of his etchings which was also great. The Courtauld is quite the gallery!

Or does No. 1 mean all of the original 200 were sold out (the last going for 5500) and 2-10 were just additional versions they printed after that sold out or APs or something? Sorry for confusion.

Correct and correct :-) but there’s a bargain version for $3500. Love Doig and these are great images from the recent Courtauld exhibition but my pockets are not deep enough I’m afraid. Would love the Alpinist and Alice.
