LUNA LUNA FUNFAIR, by Reader on Nov 19, 2022 20:17:43 GMT 1, Austrian multi-media artist André Heller returns with a new iteration of the legendary Luna Luna, some of you may have heard of his recent troubles with faking a Basquiat "frame" as a "prank". While Heller’s personal work has afforded him many accolades, his most distinguished endeavour, a masterpiece by any standards, was the avant-garde art amusement park “Luna Luna”, which he orchestrated and produced in the late 80’s in Hamburg. This proto DISMALAND brought together some of the most distinguished artists of their time to design unique fairground rides and attractions including a Basquiat Ferris Wheel and Haring Carousel. Other artist such as Dali, Beuys, Hockney and Lichenstein amongst many others created fantastical interactive works and pavilions. It appeared just once before sliding into litigation and shipping containers in the Texas desert, with it only recently coming back to light, purchased and reinvented for an upcoming touring art spectaular. Expect to hear a whole lot more of its re-birth in the coming weeks, months and years with none other than Drake at the helm.

At the time of GDP it was discussed if the Basquiat Wheel could have been an influence for the Banksquiat image.

Luna Luna was a fantastic show !
I have been there in 1987 on my 17.th birthday.
It was terrific ! I loved it and probabely this experience is the reason,
why I‘m here now, collecting urban art…
Unfortunately all my photographs are lost.
I could only find this negative, with my parents on the 3rd picture
infront of a great Haring wall.
If you can make it there, go ahead ! It’s worth it !

Screen printed and screen printed box. Only paid $30AUD. One of the little Xmas gifts for my daughter, she's a big fan ❤️
