Paster poster question, by yoss on May 4, 2022 15:00:22 GMT 1, I have never put up a paster before but since I am getting the Peace pater with the screenprint, I have a question or two about putting up a paster. I want to put it in my backyard wooden fence.
what glue do I use?
will there be permanent damage to the wooden fence in the long run?
thanks in advance to any of you street pasters!!!

Paster poster question, by chr1s on May 4, 2022 15:25:03 GMT 1, Depends on the type of glue you use and the finish of your wood fence. If you mix up your own water base wheat paste it probably won't have any lasting effect on your wooden fence. But wheat paste is not meant to weather and last for a long time. So after a few rains the paster will probably wash off the fence. We did an installation at the Museum where I work and covered a large portion of the wooden floors in one of our galleries with pasters. We used a homemade wheat paste. And granted, the wooden floors have a finish on them. The exhibit was on display for over 2 months. Using just water, the pasters were removed and the floors looked good as new.
If you google you can find more precise directions, but to make your own wheat paste use four parts water and one part flour. Start by boiling your water. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour with enough cold water to create a lump-free goo, then pour this mix into the boiling water. Turn the burner down low, and stir continuously for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat, and stir another 10 minutes. Wait until cooled to use. Some believe that adding sugar to the mixture improves the stickiness.

JR adds sugar...
You won't damage the fence, your paster won't last forever though, but the way it weathers over time is part of the fun..

Please post a photo when you paste it. I would love to see it
