Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by astbury on Jun 7, 2021 16:40:05 GMT 1, This is where Banksy Value doesn’t quite work to show true results.
The £324 k sale I’m pretty sure was the fluoro green version at Sotheby’s which wasn’t part of the original release or available to the non VIP clients.
yea Choose Your Weapon a good to fair result, us Girl With Balloon kinda poor (didnt someone pay double this not too long ago), donuts seems fair and who really cares about tm The choose your weapon was the one limited to 25, last one before sold for 238 k , before that for 324 k.

Yes possibly, still the last one went for 50 k more. Or wasnt that an original release either?

As it transpires, they have proved to be good assets over the years despite market peaks and troughs.

It's not about that, it's about people laughing at me and call me bitter in that threat because I say I think she should sell as the prices are dropping.
So they are allowed to have their opinion and give their advice (because it's positive)and I'm not?

They react that way because they know they shouldn’t sell. Why would they? Arguably, the desirable B prints could be worth seven figures twenty or so years from now.
The prospective ROI is through the roof. Why sell an asset that, when you look at the data, has a likelihood of skyrocketing over the next 10 to 20 years? Unless you’re able to predict the next Amazon or Bitcoin, your best guess for a ridiculous ROI would be B prints.

The OP asked if she should sell or keep. I said in my opinion they should sell, and ANOTHER user attacked me and called me bitter for my opinion. I never said that other user should sell, I answered the op's question.

Yes I agree. Laughing at someone and calling them bitter is not really a nice thing just because I answered the question honestly.
it's my opinion that the value of Banksy will keep dropping as the accusation of fraud is not resolved. Do I like that fact? No, as I'm a Banksy owner myself. But I won't close my eyes to it, I think the market is not stabile at the moment and won't be until Banksy decides to act on the allegations and until he secures his trademark as the fakes take over the market and flood it.

So they are allowed to have their opinion and give their advice (because it's positive)and I'm not? You are definitely entitled to your opinion, and you may well be right. The problem is that when you’ve essentially branded yourself as obsessed with a single issue that the majority find ridiculous, you then become an object of ridicule. For example there’s the chap who clearly can only become sexually aroused by the idea that Banksy is the chap from Massive Attack so pops in here to post whenever his wife demands coitus, Rufio with his Thierry Noir price war, Lroy pretending to be French, Lazarus always going on about Prince Charles being a baby eating lizard etc. And now you with your frankly nonsensical obsession about the brewing scandal surrounding the shredded canvas that literally no-one cares about. Hopefully if you stop banging on about your crazy stuff for a bit then your other posts may be treated more respectfully.
I didn't even mention the fraud in the thread, so there was no reason that Mr. Reader attacks me.
Others are obsessed with stik or post all the time about upcoming events. Still no reason to attack. We have free speech and if you don't like what I'm writing, ignore me instead of calling me bitter in a thread which had nothing to do with my "obsession"

But I won't close my eyes to it, I think the market is not stabile at the moment and won't be until Banksy decides to act on the allegations and until he secures his trademark as the fakes take over the market and flood it. What your own personal accusation of fraud to one of the most established and esteemed auction houses in the world along with one of the most successful living artists in the world? A real Banksy artwork with PC authentication paperwork is NOT a fake Banksy regardless of securing a trademark. Have you ever noticed how much crap you can buy from pretty much anywhere with Warhol/VanGogh/Munch et al plastered all over it? It doesn't effect the value of their genuine works, in fact quite the opposite it's kind of like free advertising...not that they need it. During a global pandemic the plateau in sales prices of prints would, I imagine, have more to do with auction houses being closed or more tricky to access than usual to sell/buy works. If I were planning to sell an expensive artwork right now I would choose to hold till the auction houses were fully operational again and people were able to travel/connect and were not preoccupied with catching a deadly disease. As for Pest Control being 'slow' did you take into account that they are just like all other business's that have had to deal with the virus and keep the staff safe? For all we know they've been furloughed and prioritised their staff, kids, family and health over providing authentication paperwork. If you are worried about the value of the Banksy work you own going down, sell. Simple. Although when you consider that the type of person that can afford to drop £X amount on art has just by default become even richer then I may be inclined to expect a massive BOOM once the virus eventually dies out and people have the confidence to get back out there again. I don't know how long that will take, nobody does. Sorry for the long reply I just don't want a back and forth argument about nothing and I'm not being sarky. Your posts read as though you have a personal beef with Banksy and I'm not sure its based in reality. Each to their own and all that.

I clearly remember asking you not to reply to any of my posts after you were so nasty and spiteful about me and others on here.
NOBODY is paying ANY attention to ANYTHING you say. DO ONE.
Mojo - first of all, not my accusations. I didn't write that article. I didn't find out its fraud (even though I wish I would have seen that). I've read it, researched it and I think it's a very suspicious thing. An auction house is meant to be neutral. They aren't meant to work together with an artist. They aren't meant to auction new produced pieces as old ones - and I'm sure that happened more than once. Chucking new pieces backdated on the market is flooding it. It's greedy. And wrong. Its a secret handshake between Sotheby's and Banksy, and that's simply not the sense of an auction house.
Shrinetopoundland - thanks. Finally someone speaking their mind, too. Especially on this forum, everyone who has a different opinion than the mainstream is scared to open their mouth as a lot of members are quick with attacking and insulting.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Sundowner on Jun 7, 2021 20:47:52 GMT 1, The print market has taken a dip since March this year and given the vastly accelerated growth last year it probably needed to happen. As has been proven many times before with this artist, I'm sure we will see further growth in the next few years although I do think it will make people think twice about consigning to auction (given the increasingly predictable low results).

Oh dear, did you sign in to your other account by mistake to reply. You are lowering the tone and insulting peoples intelligence. There are plenty of knowledgeable people on here that can see straight through what you are doing. And they don't care what you have to say either. No need to reply I won't.

You're talking bs, you don't even know me and you've no clue who I am. So stop making assumptions without proof, everyone with a bit intelligence (and is able to observe how people write) realizes that I've no other account on this forum.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by JockoLad on Jun 7, 2021 22:33:51 GMT 1, Four Banksy prints sold through Phillips HK earlier today Prices with buyers premium etc.
Unsigned Girl With Balloon was HK$1,386,000 Choose Your Weapon HK$2,016,000 Strawberry donuts HK$819,000 Toxic Mary HK$529,200 Where are the members who are convinced his market goes up now ?
I’d say that there will be another price rise at some point.
Been around for long enough now to see this happen time and time again.
There will be a ceiling, no doubt, but I’m of the opinion that there is still a bit to go yet. Time will tell.
Do you own any artwork by Banksy?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Jun 7, 2021 22:44:51 GMT 1, £183k for the Choose Your Weapon isn’t what I’d call a bad result. Where are the members who are convinced his market goes up now ?
Lovely result if they paid £500 cost for it 👍 I remember in 2011 writing on a thread that people are crazy paying £7k for one of these 🤦🤦
