interesting to think about the buyer.. could be a great deal or it could have been battered (which seemingly is less and less important these days), but either way if you ask to see pictures that offer disappears, you had to basically click and hope for the best

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by artforartssake on Sept 14, 2020 19:09:08 GMT 1, Poor bugger who held this for 14 years since release, to then see it resold within the year for 4x more. Funny, actually it made me smile to see it happen 😎
Turning £81.49 into £47,000 was a pretty good deal at the time and the money was used to set up a family member in business, pay towards my community woodland project and actually make a bit of money on some shares (ok not nearly as much 😂).
I was lucky enough to get in early and have sold at all levels over the years, anyway if the rise in value feeds across to the rest that I'm still lucky enough to hold......😉😎🍻

Derivative, i don't get into the market banter much here anymore but I view it differently though admittedly biased. In the case of both Warhol and Picasso before him as the popular artists of their day, each artist produced in excess of 100k graphics. Sum total of paintings for Picasso from memory were around 15k and Warhol over 20k. Banksy is a tiny fraction comparatively for all mediums and given his track record, it would be unexpected for him to to pivot to assembly line prolificacy. I certainly don't have any special insight but I'd be surprised to learn that he's selling more than a few dozen originals each year at this point. And he balances it out with plenty of his best work for us all in the streets. There simply is no adequate comparison for an artist of his stature and popularity coupled with a less is more, perfectionist mindset. That fact makes artist vs. artist price comparisons or projections difficult at best.

Banksy print market has passed Warhol’s print market in financial Worth a long time ago , just Warhol’s canvas market Is leagues ahead at the moment

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Dexter Bulldog on Sept 14, 2020 20:25:02 GMT 1, i don't agree re: volume of banksy work. banksy released 18,000+ screenprints between 2003-2005 alone. i don't want to do the math for the rest. that isn't even factoring in OGs, editioned canvases, 1/1s, HPMs, etc. roughly 10k from 2006 up to gdp prints

Apologies, not greed, lots on here, me too, love Banksy and his work, now sitting on scary prints we can't think about.
Few years back we were giving each other Banksy stickers, posters, etc for free, as that was the point... now,

The forum has recently been taken over by a bunch of people acting like gormless lottery winners, or the kind of characters you see on those 80's news clips when discussing yuppies and 'loadsa money' city greed. They seem to seriously think that their king/God Banksy prints will keep on rising by thousands of pounds a month indefinitely, and this time next year they will all be millionaires. Yep, the Dell Boys are alive and well and are living on here 24/7.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Dice on Sept 15, 2020 8:46:52 GMT 1, i don't agree re: volume of banksy work. banksy released 18,000+ screenprints between 2003-2005 alone. i don't want to do the math for the rest. that isn't even factoring in OGs, editioned canvases, 1/1s, HPMs, etc. roughly 10k from 2006 up to gdp prints
Warhol released about 80000 prints and if the above is correct banksy has released less than 30000.
However this still doesn’t account for the price/rarity discrepancies of the more popular prints. Marylin pink was an edition of 270 ish, Girl With Balloon there are over 800.
There a lovely Warhol $ (1) at auction now. Every colour way is unique in the edition and it’s a good size too. Estimate £30-50000. Still a lot but what’s that, unsigned flags level?!
www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2020/prints-multiples-2/andy-warhol-1-see-f-s-iia-274-279?locale=en
Comparisons are not that useful as banksy is unique but it’s still hard to digest the numbers. I think there are lot of younger buyers in the market with money but I could be wrong. And a hell of lot of speculators looking for a quick buck.
