Morons doesn't seem to be a crowd favourite.

Prices feel slightly out of proportion to the fame of the artists... Do you think?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Express Post on Jan 26, 2018 0:05:23 GMT 1, Lol. Deal fell through with gallery in Nov 2017 to buy No Reply from me for USD 55k. After several phone calls and emails with pics, they never got back.
Now all of a sudden I have 4 missed calls and two emails from them.
I was thinking of reciprocating the courtesy and politely telling them to kiss my arse.

Solid result for the unsigned GRWB given I heard it was the smaller sized print and had condition issues, matt burn apparently.
Also a very healthy price for a signed soup can, they seemed to have jumped in price, maybe a direct result of the soupcan mania we recently witnessed.

Wish this forum wasn't full of unnecessary sarcasm etc. it makes it so painful to participate. I'm just stating the facts of the condition report. I believe this is why the estimate may have been 6-8k. If you think differently that's fine too!

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by daveart on Jan 26, 2018 18:05:08 GMT 1, i'm just scratching my head on some of these.. i am going way out on a speculative limb here .. dont read any farther .. this is complete BS .. but i have to wonder if this isnt a few guys trying to move bitcoin profits into other assets that are basically not trackable and sellable again in private sale for cash. bitcoin to art to cash - no banks - etc. <ok just thought of one problem if the auction house doesnt take bitcoin but i bet they do whether officially stated or no >
1. The Basquiat cabeza - 100K all in ? wtf. you can buy those all day long at half that
2. Kaws sets ? i know for a fact that PACE had a set for sale at 50k. i have been talking to them about it and frankly just waited too long. They emailed me after the auction and said it was now being held to be put in future auctions and despite our conversation they were regretfully not going to sell it direct.
2X source ? no one makes that much of a mistake. Why would someone buy such expensive art and not have any idea of the availability and pay 2X the going rate. and 2x in this case isnt .. oh you overpaid for that $1500 chevrier. this is an extra 40,000- 50,000 dollars. can you imagine making a 50,000 mistake? umm no.
There has to be some manipulation or people with strange motives going on .. OR .. stupidity.
id rather be the first than the latter.
end of my stupid speculative conspiracy theory BS

I read the report & condition matters in relation to the market value.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Love Is In The Air on Jan 26, 2018 19:40:59 GMT 1, Phillips told me today it was their most successful London sale to date. I watched quite a lot of the auction and I thought almost every print I had any knowledge about pricewise went for over the odds. I just presumed there were bankers and other people with bonuses and a lack of knowledge or research on art who were overspending, but I might be totally wrong.
I am still relatively new to all this and before I joined this forum I would have had no idea how to purchase so many prints for my collection at first tier price or through refreshing rapidly for an hour at source.
