Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by nah on Nov 6, 2012 14:35:44 GMT 1, still it's a bit soon to sell a work - a few months after it was sold - albiet to select collectors known to prism. still it's a cool piece and will hopefully be bought buy someone who will hang it pride of place on thier WALL. ..
walls? arent they those things people use to store their art when they cant afford a vault to lock it all away in?

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by Fred Quimby Fan on Nov 6, 2012 14:48:35 GMT 1, Totally disagree here. (Hit me up with some negative karma chaps, I'm used to it).
I understand the point about 'flipping' and why as a possible result, Os Gemeos don't sell their work within the UK nor want to do shows in the UK, yadda yadda yadda... BUT if someone buys something - that's their choice to do with that property as they please. Every artist that sells their work cannot control the destiny of their piece nor how that owner treats that work - whether it's hanging it up in the toilet or selling it on at auction - that's the seller's right and freedom of choice for forking out in the first place.
Now, I also understand that there is a different type of collector out there ranging from die-hard long-term 'I'm never-going-to-sell' hoarders to the 'I'm buying-this-for-a-quick-profit' traders out there. Neither one is wrong and both are needed in the art world.
Os Gemeos have been very selective about who they sell their work to and I think that sort of elitism has a finger poked in its eye as a result of seeing this piece come up at auction in the same year it was sold by a one of their representing galleries.
I also think on a case-by-case basis, you never know what the reason for selling a piece on is i.e. illness - the seller could need the proceeds for reasons that far outweigh having an art piece on their wall... not saying this is always the case but you never know...

I saw that too. There were 12 exhibited at the 'Miss You' showing, so this is twenty-five percent of their smaller works on offer within the year. With that said, I do think the price point is alluring for those that want to add a work and do not have the capital to add a large canvas. We'll see though.

Hands of the car thing - I'm selling my house etc, buying this and moving in to it!

still good results all round.
