Banksy to be exhibited in Peterborough, by Acme Thunderer on Oct 1, 2021 19:38:14 GMT 1, This was just announced today that there will be an Urban exhibition taking place in Peterborough that features one of the recent Banksy pieces. For those with no idea where Peterborough is, it’s 50 mins on the train from Kings Cross, and the museum is only a 10 minute walk from the train station. Will update this thread as I find out more as there will be other street art planned in the city, closer to the time.
Urban | 11th December 2021 – 29th May 2022
“Renowned street art by some of the world’s most celebrated contemporary artists will be on display at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery in a major new exhibition. An exhibition of major national importance, ‘Urban’ will include original works by graffiti artist Banksy, My Dog Sighs, Blek le Rat, Pure Evil, Kaws, Damian Hirst and other prominent artists. ‘Urban’ will open on 11 December and run until May. Some of the items have rarely been exhibited in the UK before. It will include the unique Banksy cottage from Merrivale Model Village in Norfolk.”

Banksy to be exhibited in Peterborough, by Acme Thunderer on Oct 1, 2021 19:44:37 GMT 1, Note that most of the work at the exhibition will be from the Brandler Galleries, which I know some members will have a strong view about, but it’s good that this will be on public view so I’m not complaining.

Banksy to be exhibited in Peterborough, by Acme Thunderer on Oct 1, 2021 19:52:41 GMT 1, There’s not much street art in Peterborough, but this artist has done some quality work around the city to brighten the place up, so will give him a plug for those who want to follow.

Banksy to be exhibited in Peterborough, by pollz66 on Oct 11, 2021 12:55:55 GMT 1, It's a great idea to engage people and get some great artists on show locally, but having seen the website, I'm wondering is Damian (sic) Hirst really under the urban umbrella?
I'm not having a dig, but it could undermine the credibility of a worthy project.

At the same time, there are new projects to generate interest in street art in the city. I’m hoping that someone is in contact with Snik as they only live 15 miles from Peterborough and would be great if them and other artists could be given prime space on walls in the city.

It would be great to have a Snik up in the town centre. Everytime I drive past the old woolworths building on Bridge Street I think that wall is crying out for a huge mural.

Banksy to be exhibited in Peterborough, by Acme Thunderer on Dec 10, 2021 22:48:11 GMT 1, I popped along to the preview of this exhibition today before it opens to the public on Saturday. Have shared a few photos for the forum.
Was glad to actually see the Banksy Merrivale Model in person, and from what I understand this will only be on display at the exhibition until the New Year as going off the auction very soon.
There are about 150 pieces on display and the majority of the items in the exhibition are up for sale (by Brandler who was lurking around this evening) plus another local artist. I held back by not saying anything about the stolen Invader piece!
There were over 10 x My Dog Sighs pieces, which looked impressive so I might look out for a small OG next year.
Verdict - If you want to see the Banksy Merrivale Model then it might be your last opportunity. Otherwise, only go if you are passing the area or live closeby as I only looked around for 30-45 minutes, but still glad I went.

Banksy to be exhibited in Peterborough, by Acme Thunderer on Dec 10, 2021 23:39:22 GMT 1, Is that a stolen Invader street piece? Afraid so. Brandler is trying to sell it for £37,500. It was taken from Centrepoint underground entrance. Always annoys me when I see Invader pieces removed.

Disgraceful. Saddens me that those hosting the exhibition probably don’t realise.
