For better or worse I think we're beyond the point of no return on these things.

On the same topic (sorry if it has been shared already)
Even if i find this more than exciting, that disastrous environmental cost will keep my away from it at the moment. Lot of people are saying that ETH 2.0 will solve most of those but it has been announced for years now but it is still not here. That medium post is pretty well written too:

www.theverge.com/2021/3/15/22332677/india-cryptocurrency-trading-mining-possession-ban-law-report
"India is reportedly moving forward with a sweeping ban on cryptocurrencies. According to Reuters, the country’s legislature will introduce a bill that criminalizes trading, mining, issuing, transferring, or possessing cryptocurrency. The bill is likely to pass if it’s introduced, giving India some of the world’s strictest digital currency laws."
-- Again the more "quick" attention Bitcoin prices and NFTs the worse for the technology. It will only bring more attention from governments in the "wrong way" which is not what you want as bitcoin holder.
I'm going to take out at least 60 percent of my Crypto for a major dip. It's so high right now and I don't see another major stimulus for bitcoin from stimulus checks or a major company buying into this. I'll buy back at the dip. There are some HUGE hurdles coming up for Cryptocurrencies and NFTs soon.
When governments start to even talk about regulations (financial or environmental) or the idea cryptocurrencies have to go through BANKS... the price will tumble in one second. If even 1/4 of the countries make cryptocurrencies go through banks... have fun with that. Or if countries like India - with over a billion people - makes it illegal to even own any cryptocurrencies whatsoever. That will leave only criminals to hold it.

Tim and Elon. It's fun watching these two billionaires use each other to make few more billions before regs come in and knock down the value of crypto.
Smart guys to really push hard for crypto right now - right before Coinbase IPO. They have the timing, again, down right with this next investment. This is how the Bay Area does it.

I don't even know where to begin...I think the CEO said something along the lines of outside of a charity auction this is one of the first times they've worked directly with the artist on a consignment piece of art for auction.
There were a couple big collectors on who basically said "I'VE BEEN DYING TO GET INTO NFT but just haven't felt comfortable venturing into the markets but now that Sotheby's is saying this artist is credible I can feel comfortable jumping into him"
On the announcement Pak's art mooned.

NFT Art , by Deleted on Mar 19, 2021 8:50:34 GMT 1, Really interesting thread. I don't understand the appeal of NFTs at all, but completely prepared to accept the fact that's due to me being in my early 40s and times a-changin'. If NFTs make people happy in the same way that a painting hung on a wall does, good luck to them.
The thing I find particularly confusing about NFTs is it seems they can be anything: an artwork; a few seconds of a basketball game; Pokemon cards; a tweet; a tube of imaginary Pringles. I can't get my head around how you can extract a credible art market from that muddle. I don't understand where the differentiation is between a Beeple mosaic of not-very-good drawings and a Charizard card, when they're all just pixels in a digital file. Again, me not understanding something makes no difference to the legitimacy of it.
It also seems like you can't actually own an NFT, right? It's always held by someone else, be it artist or company, so it's more like an indefinite lease? And if the person/company holding it disappears your NFT can go with it?
Lastly, given how extremely environmentally unfriendly the NFT world is, it seems a risk for established artists to say they're fine with damaging the environment if it makes them lots of money. Younger people, who are surely largely the market for NFTs, are generally far more environmentally conscious than older generations, so I would expect a big backlash against NFTs and their effect on the planet. Haven't seen a credible explanation for how to make NFTs carbon neutral (planting trees does not realistically 'offset' carbon emissions).
Sorry for the massive waffling post.
