All art at almost every level is purchased as a combination of aesthetics, investment, satisfying the basic human desire to own something that is of a limited quantity and as a display of one's status

this rashid image isn’t great imo. I like the artist but this is another flip purchase.

I'm guessing it likely won't for most. Maybe one or two lucky flips, but seeing all of the other unsold Phaidon editions from hot artists (Nara, Pendleton, and Wood) on artsy and ebay, it might be tough for these guys.

Feels like Phaidon's prints at the primary price are already priced at the high range of what's possible. So if you bought them, you better really love them.

Combination of the market and image on these I think...the Pendleton had a release price around 1000, resold multiple times on release at a higher price. The Wood was a poor image and sells for well under cost. The nara was the best one despite being unsigned. Prints are sitting everywhere (secondary), so are originals, til the market recovers. Interesting that at primary people are still buying prints.. Johnson, Doig, Yearwood-Dan, Rachel Jones, Barry McGee, Weiwei, Pendleton etc

I don’t think any of these Phaidon prints resell for cost, so you’ll probably be able to pick one of these up for less soon
