I have the Invader - Invasion Kit #02, "Octopus" from 2003 and may be looking to sell it... It's been sitting around for many years, but it's recently come to my attention that it may be worth a bit more than I paid for it back in 2003!

Unfortunately, the providence has long since been lost. All I have is the tile itself which doesn't appear to be numbered or signed, (I believe this is true for the Octopus kit). It was bought in 2003 from the Invader store along with some stickers and a pair of the Invader sneakers, (both of which I no longer have)

The tile is still covered with a plastic film, slightly cracked at the bottom and some of the cement holding the tile together on the bottom row has failed. So, while it's not in mint condition, it's still definitely a good example of this piece.

It's up for sale - so I am open to offers or advice as how best to market this item. I've seen Invader kits going for silly money online and know he's hot right now so am determined to make the most of this.

Any packaging or a receipt from the space shop? It might be a challenge to even get back what you paid for it without any provenance.

Such a shame if you can't find any paperwork for this as it's one of the rarest and earliest invaders.

Without any paperwork though it'll prob be about 20% of value.

While I may not be a forensic scientist. I can see what appears to be fingerprints on the inside of the plastic adhesive sheet on the front. Either those fingerprints were left by Invader himself- the Kit has been tampered with at some point (other than being removed from the Lost packaging)- or it is a counterfeit. Unfortunately the first two options seem unlikely- (1) I have never seen an invader piece with fingerprints on the inside. Would Banksy leave a fingerprint on a stencil? (2) Why on Earth would someone decide to remove the plastic sheet and then change their mind and decide to put it back on- Red Flags!!!

I had IK1 that came directly from invader and also had what looks like 'finger prints' on the inside of the film.

For his early kits he used a film that is a lot thicker and has a strange pattern compared to his later kits.

I believe the kit is 100% genuine, it's just a shame there is no paperwork.

OK, thanks... I didn't buy it with an intention to collect or sell - it was going to be laid into my bathroom tiling but got forgotten about. I don't even remember what I paid for it, but it wasn't a lot back in 2003.

Even if it's worth 20% of an example with all the providence then it's worth me selling, so I might just drop it onto eBay.

Don't listen to any of the horse shit posted here. Use an online auction house to get top dollar. Everyone here will just talk shit to lower the price so their gallery can buy with with the prospect of a large margin.

I'm curious which auction house to use for a kit without the bag and the receipt from the shop.

For the Record I wasn't talking any sh!t- I guess I had never seen an older kit up close and my "Eagle-Eyes" spotted fingerprints on the inside of the film- I found that suspicious since my later kits have a much tighter quality control.  And- a Fingerprint is a positive ID, I didn't think Invader would let that pass go.   Another Forum Member corrected me- and claimed he felt it was genuine, and authentic.  I don't either of us were attempting to hurt his sale for personal gain.

I've looked at the Space Shop but it seems closed for business? My email address, (and postal address) is the same as when I bought it so, if they have records they should be able to confirm quite easily. It is 14 years ago though, and with the advent of Data Protection records are normally only held for 6-7 years!

And - on the subject of "fingerprints" under the film, the marks are not fingerprints. It looks like concentric circles printed on the inside of the film, it's DEFINITELY not fingerprints as it's a uniform pattern, very regular and perfect circles...

Unless - Invader has some crazy-perfect fingers with around 4cm-wide fingertips - like a, errr - alien or space invader?

I've decided that making a rushed decision to sell this piece is unwise... I know it's real as I bought it directly from Spaceshop! Whatever anyone else believes is up to them. I've enjoyed the kit for the last 14 years and thanks to a BBC article this morning, I've realise it's more than a bit of retro tat cluttering up my house.
So - I'm going to mount, frame and display it properly and give it the respect it deserves. And then I'll go out and seek the provenance, (sorry for the incorrect spelling) which I know exists.
It will sit nicely alongside my Gonzo / Ralph Steadman pieces which are also sky rocketing in value since I picked them up in the late 90's, early 00's.

Internet forums are a crazy place, so - thanks to the people who helped and advised me... And yes, I understand the motives of the people who look to prey on the weak. Bad luck this time.... In my "other lives" I help and advise people on forums and know how it works, it's not my first rodeo.

I had some open and DIY framed. I keep buying them just because I love them, moved house, had kids... and only recently trying to remember what I had bought I've found these ones.
