Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by Deleted on Nov 15, 2020 16:08:49 GMT 1, All originals are put in front of the artist from PCO
Not sure how PC can verify this even if it was real. Obviously there a number of knock off canvases out there, but unless the owner can provide some provenance i.e. car boot sale probably not the best, then PC can't surely authenticate It likely gets authenticated by the original artist in such circumstances, he’ll know the intricacies enough to know it’s his work or not.

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by mojo on Nov 15, 2020 17:18:43 GMT 1, I'd of been back down the car boot sale searching out the women that sold it to you to question her about who her ex was.
I'm gonna say mouldy ol fake, sorry, the paint and canvas just doesn't look right to me. I could be wrong, I could be right?

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by gd79 on Nov 17, 2020 23:51:04 GMT 1, Having said that, the below was a good read:
www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2020/jul/10/experience-i-found-a-fortune-in-a-charity-shop
I have to say my main reaction was 'what a c©ck'. He cleared 16k on a 50p book from a charity shop. Paid them a 'small, anonymous donation' and never told them what had happened.
Worse still, the charity shop went bust a short time after.
Clearly he didn't shed a tear.
I'd like to think that if I found a banksy in a charity shop then I'd feel duty bound to see them right.

Clearly he didn't shed a tear. I'd like to think that if I found a banksy in a charity shop then I'd feel duty bound to see them right. How do you "see them right", though? Arguably, he should give them everything but the original 50p, but nobody would do that, unless the £16k meant nothing to them. Giving them a large part of the money probably wouldn't have stopped the shop going bust. So what's the right amount?
How many people on here do we see selling Banksy Flag prints and saying they'll donate part of it to charity, as originally suggested by Banksy? I've not seen a single one. People can clear £40k profit and pocket the lot.
We all like to think we'd do the noble thing if we lucked into a large amount of money, but the thought process definitely changes when the money is no longer theoretical.

I agree, everyone likes to think they will do the right thing. Circumstances can make this difficult, but that doesn't make someone look any better if they absolutely don't.

ETA: Or, it's possible they found a real one as PCO would now like to see it.

Banksy Keep It Real small canvas, by lilbull on Nov 18, 2020 17:42:16 GMT 1, Hello again. 6 pages haha wow!
Ive had a quick skim through some of the comments and there is so much negativity from a couple of people? No need for it really but thanks to all the other decent folk!
Right... I first had a response from pest control just acknowledging the request. A few days later they asked for further detailed macro photographs of certain areas of the canvas to be sent to them.
I have heard back from them today...
Basically, they said due to the nature of the provenance they would like to have a look at it in person and put it in front of the artist. They said they shouldn't need to keep it for more than a few weeks.
AND THATS IT... Absolutely no 'yes it's real' or 'sorry it's a total fake' at any point so right now i'm barely any further along to be honest.
I will get it sent off and see what comes back and update those of you that are still interested that far along. I figure it will either come back with a certificate or shredded to make sure they never have to waste time looking at it again.
