DFace π¬π§ D*Dog β’ Street Art β’ Print Release News, by stuey09 on Aug 8, 2007 12:20:00 GMT 1, IMO, his "work" is too try hard and trying to be pollitical just for the sake of trying to follow in Banksy's shadow. He tried the cutesy cartoon with drippy paint, He's fighting the corporations with! and taking the piss out of dead celebraties! Just checked his website, bookcases, wallets and designer pillows?! I always think of him as the Banksy for 12 years olds. Infact I don't even know why I'm bothering to type so much about him! cringeworthy on a good day, cliched on a bad day IMO Agreed! Dface is blatantly milking the bloated cash cow that pulls the Banksy bandwagon. If I were to compare those two artists to bands then Banksy would be Oasis and Dface would be Shed7.
Whatever Paolos. Although with a shortsighted comment like that Some might say that you should stay off the Cigerettes and alcohol. D' you know what I mean Thank you, I'm here all week. Goodnight.

DFace π¬π§ D*Dog β’ Street Art β’ Print Release News, by meatbag on Aug 9, 2007 4:14:55 GMT 1, These are basically Graffiti artists. These guys have always 'borrowed' each other's styles, right from the beginning. Look at all the NY graf from the 80s, all the train writers - show me someone who's completely original.
NYC's Vaughn BodΓ© known mostly for his character Cheech Wizard

DFace π¬π§ D*Dog β’ Street Art β’ Print Release News, by mp on Aug 9, 2007 6:51:39 GMT 1, We've had this debate before and I'm sure we'll have it again. Art is personal, not everyone is going to like what everyone else likes. Those who are jumping on the Banksy bandwagon don't necessarily know the other artists or their history as much and therefore consistently try to compare them to him, which is not fair.
Banksy is Banksy. He always will be the first artist from this new movement to break out on a massive scale and crossover to mainstream fans. I first discovered this movement because of Banksy, as I'm sure a lot of people did and I'm guessing that is why his work has become the benchmark for all other artists on these boards, but it shouldn't be. Bansky will create whatever art he wants to create, the same as DFace will create whatever art he wants to create. Some people will love it and some people won't.
We get into these debates about what is good and what isn't and frankly, there will never be a set answer, because it is all subjective.
All of that being said, I do think Dface is extremely talented. Not every piece speaks to me, but that's just the way it is. My Black Hate(which btw, was the first thing I ever bought directly from POW) and Kant Complain are two of my favorites. I also own pieces by Banksy, Micallef, Beejoir, Neate(coming in the mail), Faile, Insect, Shepard Fairey, Eelus and many others so I think it just depends on what people respond to.
People shouldn't only be in this for the money or what they feel the value of a piece will rise to, though let's be honest, that is part of it when you're spending the amount of money we spend on these works. Ultimately, people should buy the things that they love. If prices plummeted tomorrow and these pieces were worth next to nothing, you need to own things that you would still be proud and happy just to have on your wall.
Ok, done ranting now. By the way, I'm twelve years old, maybe that's why I like Dface so much...
...just kidding. I'm fourteen.

DFace π¬π§ D*Dog β’ Street Art β’ Print Release News, by paolos on Aug 9, 2007 9:26:57 GMT 1, WHAT? You're telling me Shed7 sold more records than Oasis? I think it's you that needs to do the research. No, I'm telling you that you know a lot more about Shed7 and Oasis than you do about Banksy and Dface, hence the lame analogy you came up with. D's been producing work on the street around the world and staging some of the most exciting graf related shows (Finders Keepers etc) long before the word Banksy became common currency.
Ok then, let me make this comparison. If they were both cheesecakes, then Banksy would be a 'Taste the difference' Sainsbury's Cheesecake, and Dface would be a Tesco's Value Economy Cheesecake.

you clearly know more about cheesecake than you do about art..
..d*face is not a banksy tribute act which is something you seem to find hard to understand

DFace π¬π§ D*Dog β’ Street Art β’ Print Release News, by mp on Aug 9, 2007 9:42:47 GMT 1, I hear you TFL. All I'm trying to say is that people should be judging artists on their own merit, not against the merits of others. If you don't like their work, then there's no need to purchase or debate it, it's just not for you and that's cool.
DFace should be judged on his next show, print release, etc. Just like Banksy should be judged on his new work post the LA prints. Will the works ever be comparable in popularity, who knows? It all depends on who you ask and what any particular piece means to that person.

All I'm saying is, some people prefer a Tesco Economy Value Cheesecake to Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' Cheesecake. I'll just have to live with that.
P.s. Oasis suck Satan's greasy arse discharge (but they're still popular!).

Thanks, I had to do some searching to find that orange matting but I think it paid off in the end plus if it would have been funny looking my Framer wouldn't have done it ( I've had him tell me, "no way" before )

That was my only downer of the night.

Print Release - Black Rat Press 01.12.2007
Time to unleash two new prints, one to coincide with the group show in NYC and the other... just because... well it's Xmas and this will be the perfect gift for young and old alike.
'White Noise' Show and 'print' release. 22.11.2007
It's been a while since I dropped a print and well I thought I better make it something SUPER SUPER SPECIAL... i'm not sure even calling it a print is right because it's not really a print as you know it, what I do know is it kicks arse... however it don't some cheap.
'White Noise' opens November 22nd and is the innagural show at the Black Rat Gallery London.
