Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by mcnuts on Jun 22, 2007 14:46:06 GMT 1, thought it would have went for more than that... what other works are up today anyone know?
but banksy, from what i heard, dindt really "do" the piece, he comissioned it. So, if i was spendin that sorta cash, I'd rather do it on a painting. Someting he worked more directly (and not just conceptually) on. My Β£0.02
PS +1 weez for the 411.

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by mcnuts on Jun 22, 2007 14:51:06 GMT 1, the auctioneer makes out its a commision bid when in reality he is just bidding it up to the reserve himself - sounds alot like shill bidding - well it is!! but for some reason it doesnt seem to be that frowned upon in the auction world? true bird and thanks for the extra info. I'll +1 ya too when i'm allowed

This is quite common in the auction world as i am told, the auctioneer bids against the wall if the piece should be fetching more, and if the buyers arnt aware its easy to get stung. its just shill bidding, plain and simple

Sotheby's Art Auctions β’ LONDON π¬π§, by lardy on Jun 22, 2007 15:15:39 GMT 1, Bond you beet me to it.
Seeing the art being traded in such a cold and matter of fact way really hits home that its a comodity.
Exciting but doesnt feel right.
