Sotheby's Art Auctions • LONDON 🇬🇧, by Lazarus II on Sept 15, 2020 12:45:41 GMT 1, The LIITA is a dog's dinner - stuck to a wooden board. So it is! Clearly it's now okay to purchase mounted Banksy prints. When did that happen? Just curious as years ago anything dry mounted seemed to equate to as good as worthless. Also, the FLAGS has some suspect staining / damage on the reverse. Its not that long ago that the forums own art market guru Posterbob declared all unsigned Banksy prints as worthless tatt regardless of condition or how they are framed / mounted.
I don't think it was ever not OK to purchase Banksy prints with condition issues, it was just that many buyers chose not to and many would be buyers, particularly those who frequent this forum (as opposed to Sothebys) still wont.
I doubt that the seller of this particular LIITA is overly concerned that a bunch of randomers on an internet forum are commenting negatively on his / her print stuck to a board as it tops the £50k mark with a few days to go....

Sotheby's Art Auctions • LONDON 🇬🇧, by avec art on Sept 15, 2020 12:46:54 GMT 1, Banksy gdp rats still only known by Mostly the keen collectors by next year will be more commonly known And the crazy prices Israel now in second lockdown , so the walled off hotel closed and when reopen nations will put restrictions on Israel Travel Depending on how the second wave hits Israel ? The hotel may not re open ?will be cash strain with no visitors and all the staff employed Box sets will start to climb now Isn't it better that the Hotel stays open, supporting the local economy and providing enjoyment for visitors, than us being able to scratch a bit of profit from the merchandise. I see it from both sides, but a but just a thought.

If the hotel stays open it is a confined space, social distancing impossible to maintain with travelers from all over the world which would Potentially introduce different strains of the virus to the travelers home countries when they return home if any one guest is unknowingly a host of the virus And potentially introducing different stains of the virus into Palestine which has an already struggling health care system which the money the hotel generates when open would be insignificant if a pandemic hits the community

Sotheby's Art Auctions • LONDON 🇬🇧, by iamzero on Sept 15, 2020 13:41:26 GMT 1, The question is, are these collectors or investors? Given savings rates are so poor and the economy is shaky globally, are people looking at these as a store of wealth akin to property? If they are trying to lock in value then there is a vested, long-term interest and prices will likely progress. I'm sure there must also be some wealth advisors in the mix too. They have to justify their fees! If it's collectors buying because they've just discovered the work, then a) that's great b) no-one can predict where the market will go. For me, I hope it slows down so there are still some starter works that people can get on their wall. At this level In the print market , everyone is an investor In the market now Collector level is gdp rats , box sets , records, Peckham Rock, flyers and stickers
This is where it’s been for a while I think.

Absolutely, I doubt the seller gives two sh*ts.
I recall the discussions on unsigned prints having a ceiling of about £1500-2000 max! Also recall enjoying seeing prints with pin holes in and a bit of history behind them but does that also cross over to dry mounted prints ?
I merely asked if this was the new acceptable norm for Banksy works.

That said, none have bluetack remnants or pinholes 😊

Sotheby's Art Auctions • LONDON 🇬🇧, by Jonny Wednesday on Sept 15, 2020 19:42:21 GMT 1, I do enjoy reading the condition reports... 'an inconspicuous thin vertical line of touching-in in the upper half'. Errr....what? I'm the same and enjoy reading them as well. I like the way they almost try to disguise actually whats been done.
Same with the LIITA. For a drymounted print, someone is willing to pay £55k plus fees at the moment for it and that's probably not going to be the final price.
