Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by JockoLad on Sept 14, 2020 10:37:19 GMT 1, I'm a flag owner BTW, its definitely madness ๐
. You have to wonder how sustainable these increases are ! Im a flag owner too.ย itโs a great image - should be worth more than ยฃ20k but Iโm slightly biased.ย prices might find a level and plateau, things were clearly the wrong price last year though it seemsย
Whilst a huge edition, the number of quality prints of this image will reduce significantly over time. The paper used is a total nightmare. Itโs also an image with increasing relevance throughout so many parts of the World.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by poofly on Sept 14, 2020 13:29:03 GMT 1, There is a huge momentum around this artist right now and seriously wealthy collectors heavily invested (most of whom have probably never even heard of this place let alone been on here). There won't be a crash but maybe a plateau, and the ripple effect caused by the rise in unsigned prints has started moving to editioned canvases and originals which in many cases are undervalued by comparison. Everyone and their cat has heard of the Banksy forum, even in the early days. To this day I still wonder why itโs called UAA lol. It used to be called the Banksy forum back in the day, then changed after there were too many 'forums'

Thanks, never really noticed the name at the beginning. On another note didnโt you have a crazy collection of custom DFace d dogs? (Your user name sort of stands out lol).

Yeah I had a few D*Dogs, a Diaorama from his first show off Brick Lane, and one of the custom ones from the d-dog show back when it was the Outside Institute. Then I found a shop which had 3 black & 3 green ones.
Still got a green one left I think....

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by rouleur on Sept 15, 2020 9:56:03 GMT 1, The question is, are these collectors or investors? Given savings rates are so poor and the economy is shaky globally, are people looking at these as a store of wealth akin to property? If they are trying to lock in value then there is a vested, long-term interest and prices will likely progress.
I'm sure there must also be some wealth advisors in the mix too. They have to justify their fees!
If it's collectors buying because they've just discovered the work, then a) that's great b) no-one can predict where the market will go.
For me, I hope it slows down so there are still some starter works that people can get on their wall.

Clearly it's now okay to purchase mounted Banksy prints. When did that happen? Just curious as years ago anything dry mounted seemed to equate to as good as worthless.
Also, the FLAGS has some suspect staining / damage on the reverse.
