For clarity, below are the release prices compared to the APs and at least the artist is earning money rather than galleries.
Artemis (£900 on release) £1,000 for AP Vespertine (£900 on release) £1,000 for AP Hyperion (£600 on release) £700 for AP Avar (£500 on release) £700 for AP Reef Builders (£450 on release) £700 for AP

He released AP's (a print) today for £1000. £1000 is "almost double" £550. My original statement stands.

I think quite rightly he was just surprised that the day before the artist released small originals for just £550 which is substantially less than what he had priced his AP's at.
If Banksy released a few AP's for £40k but then sold a couple or 1/1 originals for £20k then everyone would be scratching their heads at the pricing, so it's a valid point.

His “wild” comment gave the impression that the APs were overpriced - they weren’t as in most cases just £100 more for the AP. The canvases were very small at only 20cm so I would expect them to be cheaper.
