Deckled edge means float mounted. Black or white frame though...?

I’m glad to see other members on here were able to get one. I nearly regretted starting this thread in case it reduced my chances… but I got one as well. 😀

Very nice - are you float mounting it to the very edge? I'm thinking black frame as the white border feels like there will be lots of space on top of white frame?

I like what you done with my mock up - good to see the variations. 😁

I normally go for black frames. With this, I am framing without a mount so going right to the edge of the paper and having spacers like I’ve got with my Beejoir. There is enough of a white border on the print already so will look right in a chunky 4cm white frame.

I've never had a deckled print before but assume you always float mount it rather than box to box.

I wonder what a black or off-black backing board would look like with black frame? If doing a black frame I think you'd have to nail the white backing to match the paper (otherwise it starts to look like rings around the print IMO) which is tough to do.

I'll probably just mount it with a matboard. Asymmetric paper borders drive me nuts and I'm not about to cut that bottom 1/2" off lol (or is there a rule against hiding deckled edges??)

Prints not under a mount can go wavy after time so I would always prefer a flat print. It’s all down to personal preference as some people prefer float mounted.

^^ Good point, I'm actually dealing with this on a cheapo Etsy print right now. Is it common to tape the bottom of the print or just hang off the top?

Does float mounting something like this leave ripples along the bottom? Prefer a flat print...

I don't think framing method (float mounting vs. under mat) is the reason for waves/ripples. It only let it shows (float mounting) or tries to hide it under a mat. The combination of the type of paper with the printing process will, in the end, have the final word on if a print edition ends up staying super flat or if the paper starts making some waves/ripples. It's kind of hard to predict from my experience. I have some floated prints that stayed super flat, others show waviness. Your best bet is to store the print flat for a little while (6 months to a year). If after that time, your print doesn't show signs of waviness, you're probably good to go with float mounting. If it made waves/ripples and you find it annoying, then frame it under a mat to hide it as much as possible..
