I'd be surprised if it was paper. That kind of framing for a piece of paper painted with black gloss?

Isnt this just a black rectangle in a yellow frame? or am i not seeing image or something?.

if it's paper hopefully it's thick enough that it doesnt ripple/warp due to the paint. would kind of kill the window thing

I'm guessing deep, rich, swirling, glossy texturing like on most of his works i,e. Red Barn Door (more straight lines on this) where he applies layers of the same colour paint in different directions adding more depth of colour in some areas and less in others. Subtle I guess but only really noticeable when you stand right next to it. The more I think about it the more i'm tempted. Very cheap for an original.

I'm very much on the fence with this one. If it wasn't paper I think I would pull the trigger and buy 4. Now I'm not sure. I'm guessing VAT is on top of the price. I love it when I go to buy something from the UK and when I enter my shipping info the price drops because VAT does not apply. I don't think that is the case here.

Just checked receipt its £120 inc vat IMO a bargain if they go up like the London plane leaves did.Theres one eBay at the mo.i think there's a limit of 4 per person.

Bought mine at the Tate definitely £120 all in got the receipt to prove it .

Dont think so, i think its just a release to coincide with an exhibition there, lots of stuff for sale Hume related at Tate shop.

I spoke on the phone with the tate shop they said that the piece would be for sale in the shop and these where being delivered next week, so Im sure you will be able to see them from next week if you pop to the shop

They have been for sale in Tate Britain shop since the show opened. They had been doing packaging tests before putting for sale online which is reassuring. (Not 100% if they are acrylic glazed?)

Can't wait to see them, I'd been hoping to get a reasonable Hume edition. A bit disappointed by the Tate print pricing £2k and Galerie Simpson have some new lino prints in the same price range.

These are available and on show at Tate Britain. Sorry to report little or no texture on these. Wish my gloss painting turned out so smooth!

Well worth a visit for the exhibition though plus the Lowry exhibition and a walk through of 500 years of British art. Some iconic pieces on show. Warmly recommend.

I saw the exhibition yesterday and popped in the shop. These were £120 on release, £150 now and will go up incrementally as they sell out. They have sold about 300 so far. I thought they were quite nice, very reflective thick black gloss gave a nice effect.

The caulfield show was very impressive, and thought some Hume paintings were great.

I honestly don't know what is worse...

a) The fact that the artist is so lazy and arrogant when it comes to offering an "affordable" piece of his art for the masses
b) The Tate for not telling Hume to go back to the drawing board,
c) For art speculators hyping this up and recommending buying multiple copies, as they are so "cheap" and "unique".

This is quite possibly the biggest con since pyramid scam's were made illegal or ponzi schemes were invented.

....IMO of course...

There is bit of a trend by famous artists knocking out utter arrogant and lazy works when it comes to art for the masses. 

Do you know what would be a great piece of (performance) art? If nobody bought a single piece...then Hume and the Tate would get a wake up call... and hopefully offer something worthy for art-lovers.

Well, obviously this isn't nice to look at like a child playing in a rainbow puddle, or a jokey image based on the famous Evolution illustration (that you might find on a £10 t-shirt in Camden Market). I mean, it's not THAT clever. And, there's no skulls or guns or graffiti writing, or old photos photoshoped and stenciled, but I still think it's pretty good.
Maybe one day Gary Hume will be as famous as Eelus !

Just wondering...how have you come to that conclusion?

Perhaps you have visited the exhibition...or seen the piece in person

...or maybe basing it upon a black rectangular jpeg?
