"ART NOTES" signed Edgar Plans books available at Villazan Store (ltd. ed. 1000)... Anyone have an update on this book release? I've sent a polite follow up email but no reply yet......and no invoice for me either!

This has been such an utterly shambolic release. I received my email requesting information from Villazan for the purposes of clearing an invoice on 17/11. I replied that day and have received no further correspondence. Like you, I have sent a follow up email asking politely when I might expect to receive this invoice on 30/11 and that prompted no reply. It does seem that nearly every edition release by Plans/his team/partners is a farce.

Recommended Art Books, by mrizzle on Dec 14, 2021 21:47:47 GMT 1, Well that’s interesting! I’ve given up any hope of purchasing one at this stage. They replied to me after 4 weeks of continuous emails and messages and they told me they sold out. One of the most ridiculous releases ever.... I told them that I didn;t need their email after 4 weeks to understand that and that they shouldn't do more releases behind the curtains... I just hate poor customer service.
And do you receive an email from them prior to that requesting info and to confirm how many you were seeking?
I do totally agree with the farcical nature of the release though. It should have simply been available to purchase at a specified time directly from the website. They should also never have allowed people to request up to three copies! Really really poor all round.

- Allowing multiples per customer - Having to email rather than just checkout - No communication at all
If it’s sold out that’s fine - but there needs to be communication with customers.

Recommended Art Books, by John The Badgers on Dec 20, 2021 20:23:53 GMT 1, I would like to buy my 2 Goddaughters something art book related for Christmas, and hoping for some recommendations on this great thread? Both show an early interest, they are 11 and 9, and I would ideally like something perhaps more of an 'overview', rather than a specific artist? Any help, guidance, and suggestions would be really appreciated here. Hey sir, I have bought this for my 12 year old grandaughters Xmas, it's aimed at 8 - 14 year olds.
Likewise Dmatt.
Talking of presents under the tree, pressure is on McGill14, went with his recommendation for my God Daughters Christmas present this year.
Mind you, a little upset where he mentions 'aimed at 8 - 14 year olds', had a flick through before wrapping, and really enjoyed it.

Thank you Sir! Likewise - a big thank you from my side as well for all the great contributions and the pleasant atmosphere in this cozy little thread.
I am halfway through this and can highly recommend it. A great summary of the madness in the contemporary art world! A good way to fill the upcoming odd days.

All the best to you and yours and all at UAA as well. This thread has cost me a small fortune this year, however it has also increased my knowledge of art and artists so thanks to all who contributed.
It goes without saying can everyone please do their best to stay safe and healthy over the coming weeks and lets see what 2022 brings for us all...

Recommended Art Books, by mcgill14 on Dec 21, 2021 15:38:27 GMT 1, As this is the season to be jolly and this is the book thread I thought I'd take the chance on dropping this in.
When I was working I used to organise a book drive at this time of year to buy books for the kids at my local nursery and primary schools. I retired this year so have set up a little crowdfunding page instead in order to try to continue giving the joy of reading to kids who don't easily have access to books. If anyone would like to help you can make a little contribution via the below link.

Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas when it comes.

Recommended Art Books, by Deleted on Jan 3, 2022 12:30:12 GMT 1, Not sure if this Alec Soth book has been mentioned here. Signed copies available on pre-order for £60 plus there’s a special limited edition with print for £350.
mackbooks.co.uk/products/a-pound-of-pictures-br-alec-soth?variant=42071514153186
“Available to preorder - this title is due to launch in January 2022.
A Pound of Pictures is a stream-of-consciousness celebration of the photographic medium, bringing together an entirely new collection of work by Alec Soth made between 2018 and 2021. Depicting a sprawling array of subjects — from Buddhist statues and birdwatchers to sun-seekers and busts of Abe Lincoln — this book reflects on the photographic desire to pin down and crystallise experience, especially as it is represented and recollected by printed images. Throughout this eclectic sequence are the recurring presences of iconography, of souvenirs and mementos, and of the image-makers that surround us day to day. Forming a winding, ruminative road trip, Soth’s photographs are followed by his own notes and reflections in an extended afterword. ‘If the pictures in this book are about anything other than their shimmering surfaces,’ he writes, ‘they are about the process of their own making. They are about going into the ecstatically specific world and creating a connection between the ephemeral (light, time) and the physical (eyeballs, film).’
Each book contains five randomised replica vernacular photographs loosely inserted within the pages.
Coincides with solo exhibitions at Sean Kelly Gallery, New York (opening 13 January), Weinstein Hammons Gallery, Minneapolis (28 January), and Fraenkel Gallery, San Francisco (3 February).
Embossed linen hardcover with front and back tip-in Three different papers, including a marbled Japanese stock and five randomised replica vernacular photographs 25.3 x 31 cm, 156 pages
ISBN 978-1-913620-11-0 January 2022 €70 £55 $75”

They are about going into the ecstatically specific world and creating a connection between the ephemeral (light, time) and the physical (eyeballs, film).’ Each book contains five randomised replica vernacular photographs loosely inserted within the pages. Coincides with solo exhibitions at Sean Kelly Gallery, New York (opening 13 January), Weinstein Hammons Gallery, Minneapolis (28 January), and Fraenkel Gallery, San Francisco (3 February). Embossed linen hardcover with front and back tip-in Three different papers, including a marbled Japanese stock and five randomised replica vernacular photographs 25.3 x 31 cm, 156 pages ISBN 978-1-913620-11-0 January 2022 €70 £55 $75”

Recommended Art Books, by mcgill14 on Jan 3, 2022 16:38:38 GMT 1, Hey sir, I have bought this for my 12 year old grandaughters Xmas, it's aimed at 8 - 14 year olds.
The thing is did your god daughter like the book or am I on the naughty list now?

Recommended Art Books, by John The Badgers on Jan 3, 2022 19:36:45 GMT 1, Rest easy McGill14, just off the phone to them, they are genuinely chuffed with my pressie (your recommendation), both are working their way through the book, they actually said it was far better than the Birthday presents I bought them, and really enjoying it - nice one.
Thanks again, this Book Thread never fails, appreciate the recommendation.

Recommended Art Books, by mrizzle on Jan 5, 2022 15:57:36 GMT 1, Anyone have an update on this book release? I've sent a polite follow up email but no reply yet......and no invoice for me either! This has been such an utterly shambolic release. I received my email requesting information from Villazan for the purposes of clearing an invoice on 17/11. I replied that day and have received no further correspondence. Like you, I have sent a follow up email asking politely when I might expect to receive this invoice on 30/11 and that prompted no reply. It does seem that nearly every edition release by Plans/his team/partners is a farce.
Well….FINALLY received an invoice for this today. Shipping is (almost predictably) 75% of the cost of the book but, after all my bitter complaining about my frustration at this release, I’m just pleased to be able to actually purchase the thing.
